Walkers news: Jan. 10 -- LHP Argenis Batista signed to minor-league deal

The St. Louis River Walkers have announced the signing of left-handed relief pitcher Argenis Batista to a minor-league contract.
The 30-year-old Batista came up through the River Walkers system debuting in the majors during the 2022 season.
Batista spent five seasons with the Walkers, primarily as a starting pitcher during which he went 46-46 with a 3.49 ERA in 146 games/127 starts.
Batista signed with Green Bay as a free agent before the 2027 season.
In four years with the Mallards, he pitched in 216 games, all but one in relief, going 11-15 with seven saves and a 4.77 ERA.
The 2030 season saw Batista pitch in 50 games, during which he was 2-2 with a 5.34 ERA.
The signing is seen to provide left-handed depth, with the chance to compete in spring training for a spot in the major league bullpen.
