2298 Week 13 - The Week in Review, Part 3

Buyers and Sellers

In our final All-Star Break push, we want to explore the possible buyers and sellers of the league for the final 43 games. We will take a look at what the buyers need and what they might have to offer. Also, we will look at what the sellers have to offer with the understanding that they would probably want prospects and young players with future potential.

Buyers

Abernathy (36-29, T-1st, IL)
Needs: Catcher, hitters, run producers
Possible trade bait: CF Callie Love (49 potential), SP David Coocoo (47 potential)
Do not trade: SP Mike Rubric (59 P)

Diamond City (33-32, 2nd, RL)
Needs: C, LF, CF, Speed
Possible trade bait: SP Burp Taylor (54 P)

Easy Town (34-31, 3rd, BL)
Needs: SP, RP, 2B, 3B
Possible trade bait: 1B Lannie Tykeson (65 P), 3B Aaron Sinn (54 P)
Do not trade: SP Wilson Beachball (54 P)
Analysis: Tykeson looks like he may be a star, but Easy Town wants to win now. If they want to win now, Tykeson's rising star will gain them two of their needs positions. He may be the most intriguing trade bait.

Fort Hagen (35-30, 3rd, IL)
Needs: LF, RF, Speed
Possible trade bait: CF John Merrow (58 P), LF Midnight Flowers (50 P)

Goodneighbor (45-20, 1st, ML)
Needs: C, 3B
Possible trade bait: CL Isaiah Swindler (58 P)
Analysis: They don't have much to offer so may not truly be a buyer. Not likely that the sellers want a young closer over other positions.

Nordhagen Beach (40-25, 1st, BL)
Needs: CL, RP, SS
Possible trade bait: 3B Dirty Dog Sapienza (63 P)
Do not trade: CL Cush Baker (67 P), SS Pointie Shroud (53 P)
Analysis: Two positions of need may just require patience. Still, they could use better relief pitching now to help win more games.

Oberland (50-15, 1st, RL)
Needs: C, RP
Possible trade bait: SP Tombstone Costner (44 P)
Analysis: Not truly a buyer unless they give up a player to another buyer.

Quincy (35-30, 2nd, ML)
Needs: 2B, CF, RP
Possible trade bait: 3B Brad Gossiper (46 P), SP Colt Finley (45 P), SP Rickey Schoolmaster (45 P)
Analysis: The Gunners have some good trade potential and definitely look to be active.

Starlight (36-29, T-1st, IL)
Needs: SP, 2B, SS
Possible trade bait: CF Geminy Grasshopper (48 P), 1B Bobb County (46 P), C Deacon Gookin (46 P), SP Trombone Jones (44 P)
Do not trade: SS Nick Maris (56 P), SP Chad Sweet (46 P)
Analysis: Starlight looks to be in good shape, but their two top starters are not producing. It looks like their future team is stacked, so it might be better to hold on to what they have and see many more successful future seasons.

University Point (33-32, 4th, ML)
Needs: 1B, LF, 3B
Possible trade bait: 3B Matt Dupermart (53 P), CF Kelvin Blueprint (51 P), 3B Blue Beak (50 P), SP Tup Mallory (50 P), 2B Ryan Rolled (47 P), 2B Luke Peerless (45 P)
Analysis: The Deathclaws have a lot of raw potential in Boston Common. If they want to compete for a wildcard spot now, they could afford to give up one or two prospects to push them to 2nd. There is little chance they could make enough moves to challenge Goodneighbor or Oberland for the SCA crown.

Warwick (34-31, 3rd, ML)
Needs: SS, CF, C
Possible trade bait: RF Kern Rifleman (51 P), SP Brian Bridges (49 P), 2B Ryan Pondrose (48 P), SS Arthur Dimmesdale (46 P), C Nickles Czerniewski (45 P), SP Whip Lashley (45 P)
Do not trade: SP Bubba Edwards (45 P), LF Bobby Thesea (42 P)
Analysis: Like league mates, UP, the Mirelurks have the potential to buy several pieces but also have some prospects close to being ready to call up.

Sellers

Atom (27-38, 6th, ML)
Possible trade bait: SP Matt "Ace in the Hole" Hope, CF Ed Tarberry, RP Daddy-o Sixx, RP Chris Leggman, RP Jason Jumping

County Crossing (28-37, 6th, BL)
Possible trade bait: CL William Whitehurst, RP Chopsticks McWilliams, LF Machete Thompson

Jamaica Plain (30-35, 5th, ML)
Possible trade bait: RP Mike Grille, LF Bryan Benton

Roxbury (17-48, 6th, RL)
Possible trade bait: CL Tom Mannequin, 3B Grognak Inman, RP Kyle Grogg, RP James Hickory, SP Scaredy Cat Talbott, RP Odysseus Blades, LF Rocky Gourd, SP Nick Mutfruit
Analysis: Blow it up! The worst team in the CBO has a lot of guys that could help another team while they should work on building the best farm in baseball. That's not currently the case as they only have four future-pro rated players, one of those a closer.

Salem (29-36, 5th, BL)
Possible trade bait: C Mike Laughingman, SP Terrence Artman, RP Josh Hugs, RF Scott Bregman

Sunshine Tidings (24-41, 6th, IL)
Possible trade bait: CF Frank Corsica, LF Amari Nukes, 3B Ryan Bobb, RP Vince Moon, RP Accident John, CL Handsome Frank, RP Jumbo Cleveland
Analysis: They can really improve the farm.

Vault 81 (26-39, 5th, RL)
Possible trade bait: 1B Erns Gold, RP Danny Rocketman, CL Radscorpion Johnson, RP Alex Godcomplex, SP Curt Redcoats, SP Josh Mustang, RP Front Porch Potter, RP Nate Truckman, C Ronald Raygun, LF Sam Farland
Analysis: Gold may be a controversial trade since he and Quickwalker seem to be the heart of the team. However, they can sell Gold a lot higher now than they will get for him later. The pitchers are mostly too old and not productive enough, so who knows what the Dwellers can get for them? This team's front office exudes no confidence they can fix this roster anytime soon.
