Walkers news: April 7 (Opening Day) -- St. Louis 11, Springfield 2

Record: 1-0, 1st (Tied/w. Kansas City and Des Moines), 0.5 GA Quad City and Cedar Rapids
The St. Louis River Walkers could not have asked for a better Opening Day.
They batted around in the first inning while building a 6-0 lead.
Starting pitcher Angel Tiburcio allowed just two hits over seven shutout innings, in his first start since missing the last month and a half of the 2030 season with an elbow injury.
And the Walkers cruised to an 11-2 win over Springfield at Busch Stadium (1997).
That big first inning came against Railers starting pitcher John Haynes.
It featured four hits -- including a run-scoring triple from Jose Segura and a grand slam by Rick Scott -- along with a pair of walks.
Steve Rossi also collected an RBI with a single to score Segura.
St. Louis chased Haynes while adding another run in the second,
Haynes hit Segura with a two-out pitch to end his outing.
Stiward Aquino took over and promptly surrendered an RBI double to Rossi.
The lead reached 10-0 in the bottom of the fifth.
Jose Ramirez plated a pair with a two-out double off Cristofe Tineo.
Armando Morales collected his first major-league RBI with a ground out.
Scott scored the Walkers' final run after drawing a lead-off walk from Brian McIlmoyle in the seventh.
A Jean Carmona double moved Scott to third.
Ramirez notched his third RBI of the game on a ground out.
A double to lead off the game from Matthew Lugo and two-out single by Alex Otero were the only hits allowed by Tiburcio.
He struck out eight and walked none, while throwing 88 pitches over seven innings.
Ricky Cisneros tossed a 1-2-3 eighth.
Andres Hernandez debut with the Walkers wasn't as memorable, as he gave up a two-run homer to Justin Schneider in the ninth.
