25 July 2298 - BMU: Greentop Nursery Outfielder Leading MVP Charge
Greentop Nursery Night People (Nordhagen Beach) outfielder Jonathan Angelou leads the Boston Minor Union in the race for the BMU MVP, that is, if the Party Boys leave him in the minors.
Angelou is currently the leader in the BMU with a 3.1 WAR despite playing eight games for Nordhagen Beach during the season.
Selected in the 11th round of the 2296 Inaugural Draft, Angelou was not able to gain his footing in the Party Boys' lineup with the likes of Michael Fogcrawler and Tomas Jones in the corner outfield.
Angelou has appeared in 43 games for the Night People. starting 34 of those games. In 117 at bats, he had 43 hits (.368) with five doubles and 16 home runs with 41 runs scored and 43 RBI. His .368 average is good enough for third in the Commonwealth Association, while his 16 home runs lead the the association. He has by far the best Slugging Pct (.821) and OBPS (1.349).
He was not as successful in his six starts with the Party Boys this season. He was 4 for 22 (.182) with two home runs, two runs, and six RBI.
"I have been working hard to be the best I can be," Angelou said. "If I need to help Greentop win a championship, then I will work hard to do that. If I need to help Nordhagen Beach win it, then that is what I will work hard to do. I won't worry about where I play. I'll just play hard wherever it is."
25 July 2298 - Finch Farm-Goodneighbor Trade: Rocky for Swindler
The Baseball News Network is reporting that the Four Leafs and Hancocks have consummated a trade. Goodneighbor will receive 34-year-old RHP Steve Rocky and 20-year-old minor league C Silly Goose in a swap for 20-year-old minor league RHP Isaiah Swindler and 20-year-old minor league RHP Ken Windhammer. A league analyst called the trade a "fairly even transaction."
Up to now Rocky has compiled an ERA of 4.80 with a 8-8 mark over 20 starts. He has 69 strikeouts in 129.1 innings and has held opponents to a .310 batting average. Rocky led the Brotherhood League in wins in 2296 after posting a 12-3 mark.
25 July 2298 - BMU: CA Trophy Goes to McLeod of Outpost Zimonja
19-year-old Josh McLeod made a few Outpost Zimonja headlines during this past week as the rookie second baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his CBO idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists, and Commonwealth Association officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 8 hits in 15 at-bats to put up a .533 average. McLeod collected 2 home runs, 8 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
For the season McLeod is currently batting .300 with 6 home runs and 27 RBIs. In 45 games he has reached base at a .412 rate and scored 20 runs to date.
25 July 2298 - BMU: Super Week for Mass Pike's Byrd!
It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Massachusetts Association, but last week Harry Byrd of the Mass Pike Robobrains reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Byrd rocked opposing pitching for a .563 average (9-for-16), 1 home run and 5 RBIs to come away with the award.
For the season, Byrd is hitting at a .406 clip with 1 home run, 8 RBIs and has scored 6 runs. He has 13 hits, 6 walks and a .525 on-base percentage. The rookie has only appeared in 15 games this season, starting seven.
25 July 2298 - Sunshine Tidings's Corsica Gets NCA Player of the Week
At the age of 28, Frank Corsica might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Sunshine Tidings center fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .545 batting average. For his efforts Corsica collected the North Charles Association Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 12 hits in 22 at-bats, 1 home run and 10 RBIs last week in 5 games.
Thus far this season Corsica is hitting .340 with 12 home runs, 64 RBIs and 57 runs scored. He has 110 hits in 324 at-bats and has played in 78 games.
25 July 2298 - SCA Star of the Week Picked
One of the league's most exciting young players, Hose Wallcrawler of the FHE Yao Guai earned himself South Charles Association Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.
For the week the 20-year-old shortstop had a lofty .391 average (9-for-23), collecting 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 5 runs scored.
In 78 games this season Wallcrawler has batted at a .333 pace with 105 hits and 14 home runs.
