27 July 2298 - BMU: Fireball's Hit Streak Soars to 20 Games

Steve Fireball collected 2 hits in today's game and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. His club, the Malden Grognaks, beat the C.I.T. Ruins Refractors 8-4.

"Right now, when they throw me the ball, it looks the size of a softball," Fireball quipped to a BNN reporter after the game. "I'm excited about how things are clicking."

Steve Fireball flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Mike Knowles in the 2nd, flied out in the 5th, and singled in the 7th.

This year Fireball is batting .314 with 3 home runs and 30 RBIs. In 57 games he has scored 39 times.

27 July 2298 - BMU: Q Excels, But Behemoths Win

The Breakheart Banks Behemoths defeated the Mystic Pines Raybathers, 8-7. Doing his part was third baseman Ruben Q, who hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Ryan Mills earned the save, his 13th, for the Behemoths. The Behemoths go to 22-35 with the win.

The Behemoths got a big hit from center fielder Heston Prynne. In the bottom of the seventh, Prynne pounded a 2-run double to right. His 17th double of the season put the Behemoths ahead, 8-2.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Prynne told the Breakheart Banks Herald.

27 July 2298 - BMU: Robobrains Fall, 13-5, to Jelinski, Snipers

The Trinity Plaza Snipers beat the Mass Pike Robobrains by a score of 13-5. second baseman Tyler Jelinski deserved the lion's share of the credit. Jelinski went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once for the Snipers. Trinity Plaza pitcher Gregg Door got the win. He's now 1-0. J.J. Campbell was tagged with the loss. Ben Faul converted his 1st save in 1 tries.

In the top of the first, Danny Vertibird jumped on a cutter from J.J. Campbell and hit a 2-run double. It gave Trinity Plaza a quick 2-0 lead.

"Feels good to get the job done," Jelinski said after the game.

The triumph puts Trinity Plaza at 33-24 for the season.

27 July 2298 - Tarberry Hits in 20 Straight Games

Ed Tarberry continued his streak at Coolest Field in Town today, even as the ballgame did not go his way. The Atom center fielder was 1-for-4 in today's contest and now has hit safely in his last 20 games. The Cats were not as fortunate, losing 8-2 to the Diamond City Swatters.

"Tarberry was hitting everything we threw at him," said Diamond City manager Bucky Bachelor. "He is a tough out. Fortunately, things went our way in the ballgame today and we came away with a win."
Ed Tarberry grounded out in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th and grounded out in the 8th.

This season Tarberry has delivered 133 hits in 357 at-bats for a .373 average with 4 home runs. He is getting on base at a .394 clip and his totals also include 32 RBIs and 66 runs scored. This year Tarberry has played in 80 games.

27 July 2298 - Landslide Throws 6-0 Shutout

An efficient outing for Lennie Landslide usually means a win for the Oberland T-51s and today was no exception. The 32-year-old right-hander held the Quincy Gunners to a long line of goose eggs. He struck out 3 and gave up 5 hits in the 6-0 shutout.

"Lennie really got it done out there today," said Oberland manager Dirk Steadyhand.

Thus far this season, Landslide has tossed 132.2 innings in 20 starts, fanned 68 batters, walked 32 and put up a 4.41 ERA with 11 wins and 5 losses.

27 July 2298 - 20-Game Hitting Streak for Hayes

Chalk up another one for Goodneighbor Hancocks second baseman Jumper Hayes. He now has hit in 20 straight games. Hayes went 2-for-4 today's game at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury but saw his club defeated 6-5 by the host Roxbury Knuckle Punchers.

"Playing on the road always makes it harder to get hits and to get wins," Hancocks manager Jeremy Whiteplate said after the game. "We got one of the two, but unfortunately it was the wrong one."

Jumper Hayes flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Matt Rodrigue in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th, and flied out in the 9th.

Hayes has collected 123 hits for the Hancocks this year, 9 of them home runs. He has also netted 65 RBIs and scored 70 runs while batting .362.

27 July 2298 - Adamantium Lick Bloodbugs, 11-0

The Abernathy Adamantium trumped the County Crossing Bloodbugs, 11-0, at Beantown Brewery Stadium. Abernathy first baseman Steve Settler was terrific. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. This win makes it 5 in a row for Abernathy.

The Adamantium got a big hit from center fielder Flatface Parker. In the top of the sixth, Parker pounded a bases-clearing double to right-center. His 9th double of the season put the Adamantium ahead, 9-0.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Parker said after the game.

27 July 2298 - Tiller, Silver Shroud Too Much for Witch Hats

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud defeated the Salem Witch Hats, 8-1, at Hubris Comics Park. Fort Hagen first baseman Jim Tiller had a superb performance. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. Brent Hooker, the winner, goes to 13-8. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts over 8 innings. Fort Hagen now has a record of 45-35 with the win.

The Silver Shroud grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fourth. With two out, Ben Pawlak hit a 2-run home run off Roy Syme, putting Fort Hagen in front, 3-0. For Pawlak, it was his 8th home run of the season.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Pawlak.

27 July 2298 - Party Boys Drop Synths, 7-5

Ryan Combs was a major factor in the 7-5 Nordhagen Beach win over Lexington. The Party Boys center fielder went 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He scored 3 times. Night Demon Archacki earned his 19th save in 21 chances. The win elevated the Party Boys to 51-29.

With runs few and far between, the Party Boys had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Nordhagen Beach came in the top of the second inning, when right fielder Tomas Jones delivered a 2-run single. The single was hit off Chris Morgen and made the score 3-0, Party Boys. Jones went 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.

Combs told the Nordhagen Beach News: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
