Darcy Tucker retired.

We are picking second in the Tavares/Hedman draft. I fully expect us to reach for, let’s see, Casey DeSmith. In all honesty, though, if we land one of the top two players, there's a ton of incredible storylines. Tavares would come to Toronto in the fall of 2009, a full eight years ahead of schedule. He would fill that spot behind Sid that Malkin excelled in in real life. If Hedman were to come to Toronto, he would join a D corps that will suddenly have the potential to become one of the best in the league.

Phoenix takes Tavares and pairs him with Kopitar down the middle. Can't fault them for that, that's an insane combo of centres. We take Victor Hedman.
