28 July 2298 - BMU: Big Day for Underwood as Refractors Down Grognaks, 8-4
The C.I.T. Ruins Refractors knocked off the Malden Grognaks, 8-4, at Med-Tek Research Ballpark. Marquise Underwood was a big reason C.I.T. Ruins won. The right fielder was 4 for 4 with a home run, a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Copper Geffre, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-1. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 4. C.I.T. Ruins raised its record to 33-25 with the win.
Underwood had a big hit for C.I.T. Ruins with two out in the top of the fourth. With C.I.T. Ruins trailing 4-2, Underwood hit a grand slam home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Refractors up, 6-4.
"Winning never gets dull," said Underwood.
The 20-game hitting streak of Steve Fireball has come to an end. The Malden Grognaks left fielder went 0-for-5 today in his team's loss.
"It's not just Steve who came up short today," Grognaks manager Rick Twocaps said in his postgame press conference. "This was a team loss."
This year Fireball has hit 3 home runs and posted a .308 batting average.
28 July 2298 - BMU: Sentry Bots Top Rayguns, 3-2, Behind Gipper
Somerville Place rode a fine outing from starter Ronnie Gipper to victory over the Cabot House Rayguns at Water and Beds Park. The final score was 3-2. Mike Hove converted his 12th save in 16 tries. The win puts Somerville Place at 30-28 this season.
Gipper, who was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, threw 100 pitches over 7.2 innings, while allowing no runs.

28 July 2298 - BMU: Flamers Top Spy Hunters, 4-2, in 10
The Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters went down to defeat to Jason Bourque and his Corvega teammates. The final score was 4-2 in favor of the Flamers. Reliever Rafe Sauce picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Ryan Lynn took the loss. Mike Koenig earned the save for Corvega, his 12th of the year.
Runs were scarce in this one. So, Jass McLeod's at-bat in the top of the tenth was vitally important. With two out, the Corvega second baseman got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Bourque. "Successful pitchers do it."
The win puts the Flamers at 26-32, while the Spy Hunters drop to 25-33.
