29 July 2298 - Mutfruit Twirls 5-0 Shutout
The Vault 81 Dwellers shut out the FHE Yao Guai 5-0 today behind the strong pitching of Nick Mutfruit. Mutfruit surrendered only 4 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 9.
Following the last out, Mutfruit appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for FHE manager David Meatcook, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Mutfruit's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Yao Guai skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Dwellers press conference, Mutfruit confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Mutfruit said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Vault 81 manager Jason Personhood added.
This season Mutfruit has a 6-12 mark in 22 starts with a 6.02 ERA. He has given up 189 hits in 131.2 innings, struck out 83 and issued 62 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .341 batting average against him.

"If there was a stat for 'team shutout,' this would be it," Westing said later. "My catcher called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be."
In 21 starts this season Westing has fashioned a 11-5 record and a 3.88 ERA.

County Crossing used the bat of Slim Chembaker to capture the win. The shortstop jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Bloodbugs ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.

Party Boys and Silver Shroud need to stop dropping this many games to last-place teams! Hopefully, they bounce back on Saturday and Sunday.
