I'm always impressed with players who amass a lot of hits. Getting 4000 is an incredible feat when you think about it.

You have to average 200 a season for 20 years. That means you also have to stay healthy for 20 seasons - so it's like double jeopardy (Of course that's true of any record being chased )

My best is Hoerst with 3905, and looking through current hitters who might have a shot, well, there are none. I have 1 active player with 3663, but he's 43 years old. Next closest active doesn't even have 2500 yet, and he's in his 30's already.

Scarey to think what Schmit could do had he started in the bigs at age 19. Maybe 5000?

This is one of the many things I love about fictional, there are no records, you don't know what numbers, or who you're chasing. You can compare your league numbers to real baseball, or you can set your own standards of excellence.
