2 August 2298 - BMU: Harbonne, Big Leaguers Get 3-0 Win

Natick Banks pitcher Massive Harbonne did his part in helping his team beat the Fiddler's Green T-60s, 3-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Ben Rodgers notched his 5th save in 6 chances. Natick Banks has won 5 straight games.

Harbonne allowed no runs on 2 hits over 8 innings for the Big Leaguers. He walked 1 and struck out 8.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Fiddler's Green skipper Brett MacCheese, "and it cost us."

2 August 2298 - BMU: Eastlake Gets 10-6 Win

The Eastlake Aquaboys beat the Mass Pike Robobrains by a score of 10-6. first baseman Tony Caps deserved the lion's share of the credit. Caps was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Aquaboys. Wino Wilhelm was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 16 save opportunities. With the win, Eastlake upped its record to 31-29.

Caps had a key at-bat for Eastlake early in the game. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a run-scoring double. It was his 3rd double of the season and gave Eastlake an early 1-0 lead.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Caps.

2 August 2298 - BMU: Big Day for Mares in 7-3 Refractors Win

Good production from catcher Seemore Mares helped the C.I.T. Ruins Refractors topple the Mystic Pines Raybathers, 7-3. Mares was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Refractors. The win gives C.I.T. Ruins a season record of 35-25.

Mares had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 fastball from Chad Hartwig, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Refractors a 7-3 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Mares.

"We did a lot of things right," said Mares.

2 August 2298 - Bugwing Sizzles with 20-Game Batting Streak

The number just keeps getting higher.

The Slog third baseman Stoop Bugwing has now extended his hitting string to 20 games. He did it today with 1 hit in 5 at-bats as the The Slog took the 10-2 win over the Lexington Synths at Tarberry Field Forever.

"Who knows how long it will go on?" Lexington manager Sprole Races said. "He's certainly tough to pitch to right now."

Stoop Bugwing grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th and doubled in the 7th.

Bugwing is hitting .309 for the season with 7 home runs, 49 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has 105 hits in 340 at-bats and played in 84 games.

2 August 2298 - 5-for-5 Day for Perez

Oberland T-51s center fielder B.J. Perez wielded a big stick today against the Warwick Mirelurks and his club walked off the field winners by the score of 6-1. Perez helped tame Warwick with 5 hits in 5 at-bats. B.J. Perez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 9th.

Perez is presently batting .314 with 5 home runs, 49 runs scored and 39 RBIs. His OBP is .378.

The T-51s recorded 19 hits in the game, 16 of them singles. Five other players besides Perez had multiple hits in the game.

2 August 2298 - Ashfire Homers Twice in 10-4 Cats Win

Spirited fans greeted the Vault 81 Dwellers for their clash with the Atom Cats.

Getting a good performance from first baseman Will Ashfire, the Atom Cats defeated the Vault 81 Dwellers, 10-4. Ashfire was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 4 for the Cats. Picking up the win was Jesse Emacipated. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits. The left--hander struck out 4 and walked 3.

Atom relied on the bat of Garrett Machine to get the win. The catcher ripped a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cats ahead, 6-3. For the game, Machine had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"We came out aggressive," said Cats manager Ben Stoudt. "We came out swinging the bats."

The Cats go to 31-53 with the win.

2 August 2298 - Luttrell, Deathclaws Beat Ninjas, 9-5

University Point center fielder Jukebox Luttrell contributed to his team's 9-5 win over the Egret Ninjas. Luttrell, who is tied for 8th in the SCA in stolen bases with 17, went 2 for 3 with 4 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Deathclaws. William Radwater, the winning pitcher, is now 9-8. He went 6 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits, while fanning 0 and walking 2. Chase Southie got the save, his 2nd in 4 chances.

University Point took a 8-3 lead on Luttrell's 21st home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off W. H. Lub in the top of the sixth, propelled University Point to the win.

In postgame comments to the University Point Daily News, Luttrell said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

The victory gives University Point a record of 46-38.

Paladin Danse and Kyle Boohoo each hit their 20th home runs of the year for the losing Ninjas.

2 August 2298 - Lady Killers Slap 12-6 Loss on Party Boys

Behind a fine performance from Glenn Higinbotham, the Starlight Lady Killers knocked off the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, 12-6. Higinbotham was 3 for 6 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Lady Killers. Starlight now has a record of 44-40 with the win.

Hope Scrapper, the 25-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Scrapper contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put Starlight up, 5-4.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Scrapper.

2 August 2298 - Assaultrons Prevail, 5-3, Over Fort Hagen

Starting pitcher Smoker Caliman pitched well enough to help the Easy Town Assaultrons beat the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, 5-3. In 8 innings, Caliman surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. Earning his 26th save for Easy Town was Aaron Geneva.

The Assaultrons got an important contribution from catcher Adam Henderson, who in the bottom of the third knocked a 1-1 sinker into left-center for a 2-run double. It was his 24th double of the season and put the Assaultrons ahead, 5-0.

"It feels good to get this one," Caliman told the Easy Town Chronicle.

With the victory, the Assaultrons upped their record to 45-39.
