Your Shizuoka Arrows News Source!
Well, interleague came early this year. Hope you're enjoying the annual Chubu Derby against the Dragons right now! It's always so fun to see the Nagoya Dome bedecked in green.
The Arrows went 18-8 in May, adding a game and a half on the Eagles for the PL pennant and opening up a wide gap on the rest of the league. Shizuoka, Rakuten, and Orix are the only teams at or above .500 right now!
As a reward for that effort, manager Paul Paez has been extended for a further 4 seasons at 444K USD per, taking him into the first year post-tehsuigi. Scouting director Naoki Nakahigashi has been extended the same length too.
The Arrows are dealing with injuries now - Nobuhiro Saito strained his PCL and is gone until after interleague, so 24-year-old Atsushi Nakamura is getting a chance to start at second base. Masami Matsuura just went down with a back injury in yesterday's loss, but we've got enough outfielders so shortstop Yoshiaga Umeda gets the call.
Then again...the team's offense is best in the league, as is the bullpen. That's why Shizuoka's looking like a Japan Series threat again.
