4 August 2298 - Dick Tricky Says Farewell to Baseball

Dick Tricky said he's incredibly grateful for getting a chance to play with the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud organization, but this season will be his last.

"I'm extremely loyal to the team, but that's why I have to walk away. I think there's probably someone younger and better who can come in and take my spot," the 36-year-old said. "I'm grateful for all the opportunities I've gotten in pro ball."

In two years with the Shroud, Tricky has appeared in a total of 28 games, pitching 55.2 innings. He is 1-0 with one save and a 7.28 ERA. This season, he has split time between Fort Hagen and C.I.T. Ruins of the BMU. In 22 games pitched with the Refractors, he is 2-4 with two saves and a 4.10 ERA.

4 August 2298 - BMU: Gott Makes it Official, Will Retire

Lapdog Gott said he will miss "leading the boys into battle" after this season. At 36 years old, the team leader of the Postal Square Action Boys has announced he will retire at season's end.

"I've always tried to be the old guy that leads by example and I'd like to think I've been a good leader in my career," he said. "There's a lot of things I'm going to miss about the sport, but I think most of all is the camaraderie with the guys."

Picked up as a street free agent by Quincy in 2297, Gott never had a chance to play with the CBO team and has played sparingly in two years with the Action Boys. In a total of 16 appearances, Gott is 2 for 18 (.111) with a run scored and 11 strikeouts.

4 August 2298 - BMU: Eastlake Beats Mass Pike, 13-1

Peak Sizeman pitched a gem to lead Eastlake to victory over the Mass Pike Robobrains, 13-1. Eastlake raised its record to 32-30 with the win.

It could have been a different outcome for Eastlake, had it not been for Tony Caps, the 23-year old first baseman. Caps contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Eastlake up, 5-1.

"Peak just went about his business, throwing strikes," said Eastlake manager Steve Feinman.

4 August 2298 - BMU: Spy Hunters Top Greentop Nursery, 4-3

In a close game at Medford Memorial Hospital Field, the Taffington Boathouse Spy Hunters edged the Greentop Nursery Night People, 4-3. Taffington Boathouse first baseman Dusty Brownell stood apart with his performance. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Taffington Boathouse pitcher John Wildt got the win, upping his record to 4-3. Cush Baker got the loss. Taffington Boathouse now has a 3-game win streak.

The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Taffington Boathouse trailing 3-2, Brownell hit a cutter from Cush Baker for a 2-run home run, giving the Spy Hunters the walk-off win.

"If you ever get this game figured out," said Greentop Nursery manager Jimmy Combat, "let me know."

4 August 2298 - BMU: Big Day for Braggmann: Swats 5 Hits

Nobody can fault Action Boys right fielder Tyler Braggmann for Postal Square's 12-6 loss to the Cabot House Rayguns at Cabot House Square. Braggmann had a monster performance against Cabot House, going 5-for-6.

Tyler Braggmann singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.

Braggmann is hitting .374 for the season with 2 home runs, 28 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He has 58 hits in 155 at-bats and played in 38 games.

The winning club was led by Karl Funke, who went 4 for 5, all singles, with a walk, three runs, and two RBI.

4 August 2298 - BMU: Failure Now 8-4 After Subduing Sentry Bots

Forest Grove picked up a win at Water and Beds Park, toppling the Somerville Place Sentry Bots, 8-2. Pitcher Roger Failure was one of the reasons the Mole Rats triumphed. Forest Grove bumps their record to 27-35 with the win.
