by Nat Wright-Kawolski

7 August 2298 - Lexington Beats Starlight, 6-1

Chris Morgen pitched a gem to lead Lexington to victory over the Starlight Lady Killers, 6-1. In 8 innings, Morgen surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The Synths go to 37-51, putting them 5th in the North Charles Association Institute League.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Crooked Tostado? The Lexington right fielder had a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Synths on top, 5-1. For the game, Tostado had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We did a lot of things right," said Tostado.

7 August 2298 - Assaultrons Roll to 13-2 Win Over Four Leafs

Starting pitcher David Tech held up his part of the bargain, helping the Easy Town Assaultrons stymie the Finch Farm Four Leafs, 13-2. With the win, Easy Town upped its record to 48-40.

Easy Town used the bat of Adam Henderson to capture the win. The catcher jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Assaultrons ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a dandy.

"It feels good to get this one," Henderson told the Easy Town Chronicle.

7 August 2298 - Mirelurks Stun Cats, 14-10

Warwick second baseman Brad Krol had 4 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Atom Cats, 14-10. Warwick has a 3-game win streak, while Atom has lost 4 in a row.

Had Straight QuaLiTy not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, QuaLiTy hit a 2-run single. That made the score 11-9, in favor of the Mirelurks.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," QuaLiTy said.

7 August 2298 - Yao Guai Shut Out Ninjas, 3-0

The FHE Yao Guai picked up a win at BosCom Circle, knocking off the Egret Ninjas, 3-0. On the mound for FHE was left-hander Papa Bush, who played a pivotal role in the win. Bush got the win, improving to 10-8. He allowed 9 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. Bush allowed no runs. Dave Crowfoot earned his 26th save in 29 chances.

The Yao Guai picked up the win with a combination of good hitting and good pitching.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Bush.

The Yao Guai raised their record to 42-46.

7 August 2298 - Witch Hats Prevail, 6-4, Over Nordhagen Beach, Win Series

The Salem Witch Hats topped the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys by the score of 6-4, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Antonio Toeclaw. Toeclaw was 2-3 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Witch Hats. Roy Syme was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Kevin Marsh, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.

In the bottom of the sixth, Salem second baseman Kody Downing had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Downing stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 4-3, Salem. For the game, he went 2-5 with 2 singles.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Toeclaw said.

Salem occupies 4th place in the North Charles Association Brotherhood League at 39-49.

7 August 2298 - Silver Shroud Top Concord, 3-2

Chris Radsco pitched well, but the Concord Radstags still lost the game, falling 3-2 to the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud at Hubris Comics Park. Fort Hagen reliever Matt Demented picked up the win to move to 4-2. Chris Radsco suffered the loss. The sole first-place Silver Shroud have won 4 consecutive games.
