1 September 2298 - BMU: August Summary
Even though today marks the final day of the regular season, we are going to run our usual BMU Monthly Report today and then preview the playoffs after we know the final four teams.
Depending on the results of the Galleria Robotics Experts-Greentop Nursery Night People game, there may be one more day of the regular season. Therefore, as of this morning, Thursday, September 1, this is where we are in the BMU.
1 September 2298 - BMU Players of the Month
Heat Wins CA's Best Bat Trophy: Not known for his offensive prowess, Keagan Heat set the league afire in August and took home the Commonwealth Association Batter of the Month award.
The Outpost Zimonja shortstop posted a steady .383 batting average, 5 home runs, 17 RBIs and 15 runs.
So far this season Heat is hitting .296 with 15 home runs, 46 RBIs and 66 runs scored. He has 87 hits in 294 at-bats and a .398 OBP.
MA's #1 Batter Announced: Postal Square Action Boys fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in August.
Darius Yurnday put up a remarkable month at the age of 24 and has been named the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month.
For the month, Yurnday hit .346 with 7 home runs, 10 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
Presently Yurnday is batting .242 with 40 hits and 11 home runs. He has knocked in 24 runs and scored 43 times.
Greentop Nursery Starter Named CA's #1 Pitcher: There's something about a young rookie winning the Commonwealth Association Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Sam Molina, a 18-year-old starter for the Greentop Nursery Night People.
In August, he topped off the month with a 3-0 mark and 1.07 ERA in 4 starts, tossed 25.1 innings, fanned 27 and held opposing teams to a .170 average.
To date this season, Molina has registered 10 starts, 5-0 won-lost mark, 2.88 ERA, 56.1 IP, 64 strikeouts and 34 walks. Opposing teams have hit .181 against him.
MA Selects Zoom August's Best Pitcher: In August, Miles Zoom tore through the Massachusetts Association like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 20 years old.
The young Charles View starter posted a 3-0 mark and an ERA of 0.58 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 31 innings he collected 40 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .176 average.
On the season Zoom has 4 wins and no losses and a 1.25 ERA.
