3 September 2298 - Quincy's Brainwash Suffers Attack

Quincy reserve shortstop Danny Brainwash will be out for the rest of the season and will need reconstructive surgery after receiving bites to his face and neck by a junkyard dog.

The dog protects the junkyard near Poseidon Energy. It somehow got out of the fenced in area and made its way to Quincy. Brainwash was the first person it had a chance to sink its teeth into.

One witness said that the dog went straight at Brainwash. "That guy tried to dodge the dog, but it just threw its weight into him and knocked him down," the unnamed witness said. "Once he was down, it just started biting and shaking its head like it was trying to rip him apart."

A Minutemen guard nearby also witnessed the attack. He was able to shoot the dog dead, ending the attack.

Brainwash was transported to the Quincy Clinic where he was awaiting transport to a hospital to receive surgery.

Brainwash appeared in 47 games in 2298, going 18 for 41 (.439) with four doubles, a triple, a home run, 10 runs, and eight RBI.

3 September 2298 - Wallace Hot, T-51s Cold

An efficient outing for Phlip Wallace usually means a win for the Egret Ninjas and today was no exception. The 29-year-old left-hander held the Oberland T-51s to a long line of goose eggs. He struck out 7 and gave up 6 hits in the 10-0 shutout.

"Phlip really got it done out there today," said Egret manager Kip Bomb.

Wallace has started 28 times this year, pitched 195.1 innings, fanned 189 batters and walked 40. His current record is 11 wins and 11 losses with a 4.42 ERA.

Crops Gerdenheimer led the Ninjas' offensive charge. He was 2 for 3 with two home runs, a walk, three runs, and three RBI.

3 September 2298 - Vault 81 Punchless in 8-0 Loss to Yao Guai

Sage Monticello kept the Dwellers from doing any damage to the Yao Guai today at CURIE Inc. Field. Vault 81's 4 hits and 2 walks came to naught as FHE took the contest 8-0. Monticello added 7 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.

This season Monticello has worked 163.1 innings with 106 strikeouts en route to a 10-8 record and a 4.46 ERA.

3 September 2298 - Ackerman Shines in 8-4 Salem Win

A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Salem Witch Hats and County Crossing Bloodbugs.

Dan Ackerman was a major factor in the 8-4 Salem win over County Crossing. The Witch Hats shortstop went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5. Salem is now 51-56, County Crossing 43-64.

Salem took a 8-4 lead on Ackerman's 11th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Justin Hale in the top of the seventh, propelled Salem to the win.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Ackerman said after the game.

3 September 2298 - Fort Hagen Drops Important Game

Sunshine Tidings Chemists starter Danny Beerholder was in fine form against the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud at ArcJet Systems Stadium, leading his team to a win, 4-2. Sunshine Tidings is now 45-62.

Brightsun Ramos, who is on pace for 82 RBI this season, contributed to the Sunshine Tidings win with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 2 runs scored, and 1 RBI.

Despite the victory, Beerholder was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."

The Silver Shroud entered the day up a game on Abernathy for the chance to win the Institute League. Abernathy was winning at the time of this write-up.

3 September 2298 - Win Lifts Adamantium to 1st Place Tie

Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Abernathy Adamantium and Starlight Lady Killers.

Abernathy right-hander Bad Company Grognak pitched his team to victory over the Starlight Lady Killers at Tato Field. The final score was 6-4. Grognak, now 4-3, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 4, and allowing 4 runs. T-Bone Heagy converted his 27th save in 32 tries.

The Adamantium got a big hit from third baseman Joel Mutfruit. In the bottom of the fifth, Mutfruit pounded a 2-run double to right-center. His 27th double of the season put the Adamantium ahead, 6-1.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Mutfruit told the Abernathy Herald.

With the win, Abernathy upped its record to 59-48, tied with Fort Hagen.

3 September 2298 - Hancocks Blast Gunners, Clinch One Seed

The Goodneighbor Hancocks downed the Quincy Gunners, 10-1, at The Stone House. The Hancocks were led by Bryan Assman. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The winning pitcher was Quincy Eloquent. He's now 19-6. He went 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 8 hits for the Hancocks. Goodneighbor, at 76-31, is the South Charles Association #1 seed after Oberland lost.

It could have been a different outcome for Goodneighbor, had it not been for Zachary Utsinger, the 20-year old left fielder . Utsinger contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first inning to put Goodneighbor up, 1-0.

In postgame comments to the Goodneighbor Times, Assman said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

3 Septemeber 2298 - Party Boys Eke Out 6-5 Win Versus Easy Town

The Easy Town Assaultrons knew at the start of this game that they were the wildcard representative of the Brotherhood League. However, they promised that they would still be hungry in this series. They weren't hungry enough.

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys weathered a fine game by Easy Town right fielder Dan Squirrel to upend the Assaultrons, 6-5, at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium. Squirrel was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. Julian Shed, the winner, goes to 13-8. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts over 5 innings. The second-place Assaultrons have lost 4 straight games.

Making an impact for the home team was Taboo Richardson. In the bottom of the fifth, the 33-year old shortstop had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 6-2, Party Boys.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Richardson.
