St. Louis went into the bottom of the sixth inning of a scoreless game without a hit, by the time it was over it had scored three runs and set the stage for a 3-0 win over Toledo at Busch Stadium (1997).
Things got rolling when Mud Hens starting pitcher Bobby Wheeler hit Steve Rossi with a 2-2 pitch to open the inning.
After that, he walked, Jose Ramirez and Jordan Groshans followed with a single to jam the sacks.
Jose Segura quickly unjammed with with a two-run double to end what had been a good outing for Wheeler.
Ryan Kaderilik took over for Toledo.
He got a strike out for Jean Carmona to begin his register.
But Rick Scott followed with a fly ball deep enough to score Groshans, making it 3-0.
Hunsicker (7-2) pitched 7.1 innings without allowing a run. He gave up five hits while striking out two and walking two.
Andres Hernandez finished off the eighth inning.
The ninth belonged to Ernesto Barbosa, who earned his 12th save.
