Walkers news: July 6 -- Quad City 8, St. Louis 2
Record: 48-35, 1st, 4 GA Cedar Rapids
A two-run homer from Rick Scott in the top of the second inning staked St. Louis to a 2-0 lead, but the River Walkers would not score again as they fell 8-2 to Quad City at Fenway Park (1976).
The win gave QC victories in two of the final three games of their series, which now switches to Busch Stadium in St. Louis for a trio of games.
The Thunder tied it in the bottom of the second on a two-run homer from Gabriel Hagan off St. Louis starter Izzy San Juan.
QC then took control of the game with a four-run fifth.
Jacob Gonzalez drove in the first run with a double.
Ben Nelson notched the next two with a single.
When Nick Gonzalez scored on a Myles Austin fly ball, the Thunder led 6-2.
Nelson capped the scoring with a two-run homer off Argenis Batista in the seventh.
QC starter Jose Castenada lasted just four innings, allowing two runs on four hits.
Travis Hailey (2-0) finished the fifth inning and worked a scoreless sixth, which was enough to earn him the win.
Nick Wood (1.2 IP), Pascal Marovicci and Sam Stoutenborough (1.0) combined to finish the game.
