The talk is, and perhaps it is just talk, that Cohen did this trade* with the definite intention of signing Lindor to a new contract. Hence my comments about "This is going to cost the Mets $$$" and how it doesn't seem to be a problem now.
*I say "Cohen did this trade" because, even though I am aware that the Mets hired Jared Porter as their new GM a month ago, I haven't heard much about him since. Did he pull this off?
