Walkers news: Oct. 3 -- St. Louis 8, Madison 1

Record: 96-64, 1st, 12 GA Springfield and Cedar Rapids; NL South and NL homefield clinched
Angel Tiburcio finished one out shy of a shutout in his final start before the postseason, as St. Louis downed Madison 8-1 at Busch Stadium (1997).
Tiburcio (10-9) dominated until the ninth when he seemed to run out of gas.
He struck out the inning's first two batters, before allowing three straight hits -- a double to Armando Trevino, a single to Yan C. Dixon and a double to Emanuel Feron, which ended the shutout -- which forced St. Louis to go to its bullpen.
Cory Tiller got the call, and got Jason Nolan to ground out to end it.
Overall, Tiburcio's line read one run on five hits over 8.2 innings. He struck out 10 and walked two.
The game was pretty much over by the time it got to the top of the ninth,
Solo homers from Daniel Becerra in the bottom of the first and Jean Carmona in the fifth, both off Muskies starter Danny Munos, put the Walkers ahead 2-0.
St. Louis broke it open with four runs in the seventh.
Steve Rossi drove in the final two runs with a single off Daniel Johnson.
The deficit grew by two in the eighth, TIburcio driving in the first run with a double.
In addition to a strong mound effort, Tiburcio was 2 of 3 at the plat with a run scored and an RBI.
