Walkers news: Oct. 22 -- Closer Barbosa opts for free agency
I didn't see this coming, but River Walkers closer Ernesto Barbosa has opted to throw his hat into the free agency ring.
I thought had him locked up, and was not given a warning, I guess I didn't dig deep enough into my financials, but after four seasons in the majors with St. Louis the bidding is open for the 39-year-old right-hander.
Barbosa first made the majors in 2028 and became the Walkers' closer during the 2029 season.
Over the past three seasons, he has saved 80 games - take into consideration, I usually don't put my closer into the game unless the lead is under two runs -- and gone 24-3 overall with 87 saves in 199 games, with a 1.10 ERA.
He's going to be expensive, but I will do everything I can to keep him.
