29 March 2299 - Salem Activates Catman
The Salem Witch Hats announced today that 1B Dan Catman would be activated after suffering as what was diagnosed as Cat Scratch Fever. The injury was sustained by one of his cats. Catman has been cleared to play and should no longer suffer ill effects of the disease.
31 March 2299 - Corvega's Stamey Injured by Radscorpion
Corvega Flamers (Sunshine Tidings) 1B Tom Stamey was injured by a radscorpion just north of Jalbert Brothers Disposal last night.
Following a team practice with the Flamers, Stamey and some teammates went for a swim in the Cambridge Reservoir, swimming the width of the waterway on a wager.
After crossing the reservoir, a nearby radscorpion attacked the group. No one had a weapon at the time, so the cut and stung group had to escape via the reservoir.
Stamey suffered the most severe of injuries with a laceration to his hand that may force him to miss some time from the start of the BMU season on April 11. No one else had any other injuries in the dangerous encounter.
31 March 2299 - Salem-Finch Farm Trade
The Salem Witch Hats traded 21-year-old minor league reliever Malden Roberts and 20-year-old minor league second baseman Kidd Hinojosa to the Finch Farm Four Leafs, getting 20-year-old minor league starting pitcher Jamie Brenner in return.
Hinojosa was the 3rd round pick and Roberts was the 5th round pick of the Witch Hats in the 2297 Rookie Draft.
Brenner was a free agent acquisition in 2298 by the Four Leafs. He played mostly with Galleria in the BMU but did start one game for Finch Farm. In that game, he allowed three earned runs on nine hits with a walk and five strikeouts in 7.0 innings in the win.
2 April 2299 - Exhibition Season Standouts
Here are a few players that stood out. Apologies that stats only were calculated during the official Spring Training Week, not the entire exhibition schedule, which included exhibition games vs the NWL and the Battle Tournaments.
Diamond City's rookie 1B Oren Gep had perhaps the biggest standout performance this week in preparation to being the Swatters' starter in 2299. The young Gep batted .526 with a CBO-leading 13 RBI to go along with two home runs.
