FLUSHING, New York - In the first major transaction of the Fightmaster Era the New York Mets have reached a deal with the Tampa Bay Rays, sending 27-year-old minor league 3B J.D. Davis and 17-year-old minor league 2B Junior Tilien to the Rays in exchange for 25-year-old minor league CF Randy Arozarena and 26-year-old minor league RHP Diego Castillo. Reports had been hinting at a deal in recent days, but weren't confirmed until this afternoon.
Tampa Bay will retain a portion of Castillo's remaining contract.
For the season, Davis is hitting at a .162 clip with 3 home runs, 12 RBIs and has scored 10 runs. He has 18 hits, 17 walks and a .273 on-base percentage.
