The Nuka Tour
Your introduction to Nuka-World and Bradberton
by Evan Guy
24 April 2299 - Part 2: Victory Cave Crickets
Location: Bradberton
Stadium: John-Caleb Bradberton Honorary Field
Team President: Katelyn Alden
A caravaneer who is loyal to herself first, Katelyn helped establish a business in Bradberton following Operation Open Season. Because of her business regimen, she was selected by JCB to run the Victory team.
Nickname History: Cave Cricket
According to the terminal dedicated to Nuka-World specimens, "It is unknown what mutated these insects, but these enlarged cave crickets are descended from crickets of the order Rhaphidophoridae and the subfamily Ceuthophilinae (cave crickets native to the United States).
Cave crickets are about the size of a large dog and use their powerful back legs to hop great distances. Their mutations seem to have turned them carnivorous; instead of being content eating the grasses throughout Nuka-World, they attack anything on sight. Their dusty brown coloration makes it easy for them to lie in wait in bushes before ambushing prey.
Cave crickets kept a relatively similar appearance to their pre-War ancestors, as they still show characteristics peculiar to their families, such as long posterior legs and antennae, but like many other animal species, they still weren't left unaffected by the nuclear fallout that followed the Great War. Cave crickets are now much larger and have overgrown sharp mandibles, but the main feature that distinguishes them from their unmutated predecessors is the huge, single, frontal horn they can now use to stab or even impale their prey. Cave crickets are usually seen wandering in groups of three to four individuals in the dry plains that surround Nuka-World."

Players to Watch
SP Patch Bateman - 0-2, 1.80 ERA
Big guy. Armed with a plus fastball with a fringe curveball. Can be vulnerable to the long ball since he is a flyball pitcher. Animal lover.
C Deke Dax - .000/0/0
Another big guy. Slow on the basepaths, slow off them. Patient at the plate. Not good at making contact when he swings. May not have talent for CBO but could be a top catcher in the NWL.
1B Stan Floss - .111/0/0
The first-round pick by the Cave Crickets in the Inaugural Draft. Does not always give effort but does possess plus talent. Has a good eye for the strike zone but often swings too hard and misses hittable pitches. Can hit for power when he makes contact.
3B Spratt Turnpike - .000/0/0
Has good work effort but needs to catch up to his body to show the potential he possesses. Looks good on the practice field but cannot translate that to live games. Good glove helped him get drafted in the 3rd round of the 2297 CBO Rookie Draft. Does not have a good bat, swinging and missing thrice as much as he makes contact.
SP Joel Fields - 1-1, 0.56 ERA
Tall and thick. Keeps a low profile. Works hard for his team and cares only about playing ball. Has a four-pitch repertoire, but none are major league level. Makes too many of his pitches hittable instead of working up and down and on the corners.
