26 April 2299 - Wharton Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits

Sunshine Tidings Chemists first baseman Jalen Wharton went ballistic today with the bat. He hammered the County Crossing Bloodbugs for 5 hits and drove Sunshine Tidings to a 8-4 win over County Crossing at Beantown Brewery Stadium.

Jalen Wharton hit an RBI triple in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

This season Wharton is batting .362 with 2 home runs. He has scored 12 runs and driven in 16.

26 April 2299 - Teddybear Shuts Out Yao Guai, 2-0

In an excellent mound performance, Chris Teddybear of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets whitewashed the FHE Yao Guai 2-0 on a 2-hitter.

"I had my best stuff and did a good job of mixing up my pitches," he said after the game.

In all, the Jamaica Plain hurler rang up 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in the shutout win.

"We just didn't swing the bats well today," said Yao Guai manager David Meatcook. "Teddybear did a good job keeping us guessing."

In 5 starts this season Teddybear has notched a 3-1 record and a 2.60 ERA.

26 April 2299 - Bishop Hits 2 home runs in Swatters Win

The Diamond City Swatters topped the Quincy Gunners, 7-4, with third baseman Allen Bishop playing a big role. Bishop went 4-4 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Swatters in the win. Tim Fusion picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 11 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 4-0. The win gives Diamond City a record of 14-3.

Diamond City took a 6-4 lead on Bishop's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Michael Thawt in the top of the seventh, propelled Diamond City to the win.

"We've got a great group of guys," Bishop said, "and we're having fun right now."

26 April 2299 - Party Boys Top Adamantium, 4-1, Behind Beach

The Nordhagen Beach Party Boys topped the Abernathy Adamantium, 4-1, in North Charles Association action at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Nordhagen Beach pitcher Tommy Beach. Abernathy falls to 11-6.

Beach, who dominated for Nordhagen Beach, earned the victory to move to 3-1. He was in control the whole game, scattering 5 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 10. Abernathy batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.

"It was a good effort all around," said Beach.

Jim Waples continued his streak at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium today, even as the ballgame did not go his way. The Abernathy second baseman was 1-for-4 in today's contest and now has hit safely in his last 20 games.

"Waples was hitting everything we threw at him," said Nordhagen Beach manager Craig Robinson. "He is a tough out. Fortunately, things went our way in the ballgame today and we came away with a win."
Jim Waples struck out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th and flied out in the 8th.

Waples is hitting .421 for the season with no home runs, 6 RBIs and 17 runs scored. He has 32 hits in 76 at-bats and played in 17 games.

The Boys received some bad news when they learned that RF Tomas Jones will miss about three weeks with a groin injury.

26 April 2299 - Deathclaws Need Extra Frames to Get Past T-51s

Fans got some free baseball at Gwinnett Brewery Park.

University Point Deathclaws starter Quentin Malone hurled his team past the Oberland T-51s, 3-2, in 10 innings. At 11-6, the Deathclaws have played well so far. Not the same can be said for the T-51s, who are below .500.

The Deathclaws procured the win, in large part because of catcher Chad Morris. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said University Point skipper Woody Lumpkin.

The game was knotted 1-1 entering the final inning. However, University Point was able to win the runs battle in the deciding inning, 2-1. Deathclaws SS Aaron Nukacola led all hitters, going 3 for 4 with an RBI. Travis Alone of the T-51s and Jukebox Luttrell of the Claws each hit solo homers in the 10th.

26 April 2299 - Silver Shroud Take Down Four Leafs in 11, 8-7

Andrew Nuka was a vital contributor to the 8-7 Fort Hagen victory over Finch Farm. The Silver Shroud left fielder went 4 for 6 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Fort Hagen reliever Curtis Thriceshot picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ernie Peacemaker shouldered the loss. The win puts Fort Hagen at 13-4, two games up in the Institute League.

The game was all tied up in the top of the 11th, until Nuka delivered big-time for Fort Hagen, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Peacemaker. The game-changing hit put the Silver Shroud on top, 8-7.

"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Nuka told the Fort Hagen Gazette.

Mark Miller also had four hits for the Shroud. 1B Jim Tiller was 2 for 6 with a double, a home run, two runs, and an RBI. Matt Basile went 3 for 5 with a home run, two runs, and three RBI for the Leafs. Joe Mahaney hit his team-leading fifth home run.

Fort Hagen has placed CF Ben Pawlak on the injured list after he could not go this week. He is expected back next week, though, when the Shroud host the Salem Witch Hats on May 2.
