12 May 2299 - Bloodbugs Drop Witch Hats, 4-2, in 22
The County Crossing Bloodbugs took Salem pitcher Terrence Artman's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Vim! Park of Salem. The final score had County Crossing getting past the Witch Hats, 4-2. Artman went 8.2 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 11. County Crossing has now won 3 in a row.
Artman pitched a very strong game for the Witch Hats, allowing 3 hits in 8.2 innings while striking out 11. It was all for naught, however.
Salem clamped down on Tattoo Woolf and put a stop to his hit streak. He went without a hit, ending the run at 21 straight games.
"It was bound to happen," Woolf said with a shrug after the game.
Posting a .349 batting average to date, Woolf has no home runs and 11 RBIs.
12 May 2299 - Ross Excels, But Knuckle Punchers Win
The Roxbury Knuckle Punchers defeated the Diamond City Swatters, 9-8. Doing his part was left fielder Tyler Ross, who went 4-5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Roxbury reliever Kyle Grogg picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Mike Pond absorbed the loss. Aaron Somer got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
Edward Cox drove in one run for Roxbury. The 20-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 8-8 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mike Pond. It was his 12th RBI of the season.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Cox.
Roxbury is now riding a 4-game win streak to move to 13-15.
12 May 2299 - Hit Parade: Kilgore Pops 5 Hits
Kurt Kilgore did all he could with his bat, but it just wasn't enough for the Egret Ninjas to pull out a victory.
The 21-year-old center fielder rapped out 5 hits in the game, but the Ninjas could not overcome the Vault 81 Dwellers. Egret lost the game 9-6 today at Fallon Field at Egret Tours Marina.
Kurt Kilgore singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th and singled in the 11th.
This year Kilgore is hitting at a .356 pace with 1 home run and 13 RBIs. He has played in 28 games and scored 20 times.
12 May 2299 - Tentsleep Slugs Ghouls to 10-7 Win
Led by Lernz Tentsleep, the The Slog Ghouls defeated the Easy Town Assaultrons, 10-7. Tentsleep hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Ghouls. Tiny Greene collected save number 12. The Slog now has a record of 19-9 with the win.
The Slog grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Tentsleep, who is on pace to hit 35 home runs this season, hit a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season put the Ghouls out in front, 7-5.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Tentsleep.
There was a heated confrontation between the Ghouls and Assaultrons that resulted in ejections and suspensions. C.T. Woodard of The Slog and Daddy-O Sixx of Easy Town were issued 4-game suspensions by the league office for initiating the on-field disturbance.
This year Woodard is hitting .404 with 2 home runs.
This season Sixx has made 12 relief appearances, collecting no saves. Sixx has worked 12.1 innings, yielding 13 hits and giving out 1 free passes while striking out 12. He has a 0-0 record with a 4.38 ERA.
12 May 2299 - Gunkill Boosts Hit Streak to 25 Games
Steve Gunkill has been on a tear for several weeks, and his hitting streak just keeps getting longer. The 33-year-old Quincy Gunners center fielder extended his streak today to 25 games, going 1-for-4 as Quincy got the best of the Jamaica Plain Red Rockets at The Stone House, 10-5.
"Steve has been playing real well lately and we're proud of him," Gunners manager Kevin Banner said.
Steve Gunkill walked in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. Gunkill is hitting .377 in 2299 with 18 RBIs and 4 home runs.
12 May 2299 - Win Lifts Party Boys to 19-9
Taboo Richardson helped his team muscle past the Finch Farm Four Leafs, 10-7. In the game, the Nordhagen Beach shortstop was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The Party Boys have an impressive 19-9 record.
Jonathan Angelou hit a 3-run home run off Chris Farmman in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Party Boys ahead, 8-5. In addition to the homer, Angelou had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"We maximized our offense today," said Nordhagen Beach skipper Craig Robinson. "That makes everyone's life easier."
12 May 2299 - Silver Shroud Beat Lexington, 6-5, in 11
Despite a great performance by Lexington right fielder Crooked Tostado, the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud defeated the Synths by the score of 6-5 at Super Duper Mart Stadium. Tostado went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The victory gives Fort Hagen a record of 20-8.
The most important at-bat for Fort Hagen came in the top of the 11th inning, when left fielder Andrew Nuka stroked a 2-0 fastball to right for a run-scoring single, putting Fort Hagen up, 6-5.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Nuka told the Fort Hagen Gazette. He was 3 for 6 with a run and two RBI.
David Driftwood hit a three-run home run in the 6th to tie the game, 4-4. It was his fourth on the season.
