Jean Carmona hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning, and Zack Hunsicker turned in his best outing of the season as St. Louis downed Madison 3-1 at Busch Stadium (1997).
Muskies starting pitcher Danny Munos retired the first two River Walkers' batters in the bottom of the first, but Jose Ramirez got to him for a double.
A single by Jose Segura put runners at the corners.
Carmona drove them both in, with his second home run of the season driving the ball 398 feet over the left-field wall on a 2-1 pitch.
Hunsicker (1-2) collected his first win of the season after going 7.1 innings during which he allowed one run on four hits.
Yeison Santos recorded the final two outs of the eighth -- both via strikeouts -- with no one on base.
Ernesto Barbosa was flawless in the ninth for his ninth save.
