Walkers news: May 17 -- Note from Tiburcio
River Walkers ace Angel Tiburcio just sent me a note about wanting to talk about a contract extension, as he's in the final year of his contract.
Tiburcio has been a workhorse for the three of the past four seasons -- an injury limited him to 24 starts in 2030 -- and won Cy Young awards in 2028, 2029 and 2031.
He's also off to a great start this season, sitting at 5-1 with a 2.51 ERA afrer eight starts.
But he's also 31 years old and got a lot of mileage on his tires.
He's asking for an eight-year deal at $30-million plus, which is way too much.
Even for the face of the franchise.
And I don't put much stock into starting pitchers, who are over 35 years old.
This is going to be a tough one.
