I am enjoying the level of thought and detail you put into your descriptions.
I did cringe at your mention of separating the players by position for intensive drills though as I had a flashback to HS baseball. During our pre-season practices (when it was colder outside), the pitchers and catchers would go do stuff, the infielders would go do their thing, and for us outfielders it was always like: "Oh yeah, the rest of you go play long toss, or shag balls or practice dry swings or something." Then a couple of hours later, we might actually be included in something entertaining. It made for long boring days.
