17 May 2299 - It Happened Again!: Kawolski Hurls No-Hitter
It was the game that pitchers dream about
: the no-hitter. Before this season, there had only been one in the CBO. Now there are two more in four days.
It happened today at Graygarden Park. Sheng Kawolski of the Oberland T-51s was right on target against the Warwick Mirelurks in a 6-0 victory. Kawolski zeroed in on them, holding them hitless with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk. His 4th-inning walk of Mirelurks 1B Straight QuaLiTy prevented the first-ever perfect game.
"I just had it all today," Kawolski told BNN reporters after the game. "Very good stuff and great location. That is a combination that's hard to beat."
On the year Kawolski has worked 52.1 innings with 65 strikeouts en route to a 4-2 record and 4.64 ERA. Though he has struggled early this season, he said that this outing shows he is "on the right railroad bus."
"Look, we got a business to run," he said. "I'm a busy man. Got things to do. People to see. Been on my own since I was eight. I'm a fully independent man, well, except for my wife, Nat. But today, I am a happy man. Now let's all drink to my success."
17 May 2299 - Witch Hats Win on 9th-Inning Salami
Behind the hitting of Antonio Toeclaw, the Salem Witch Hats stopped the Starlight Lady Killers, 9-6. Toeclaw was 2 for 4 with a grand slam in the 9th and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Witch Hats. Salem reliever Kevin Marsh was the winner. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Larry Undertaker. The win has Salem at 13-19.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Salem trailing 6-5, Toeclaw hit a cutter from Undertaker for a grand slam home run, giving the Witch Hats the walk-off win.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Toeclaw told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
Hats 2B Kody Downing also had a successful day at the plate, going 4 for 5 with a double, two runs, and an RBI. Dan Ackerman hit his 8th home run of the season.
Damani Beebe and Ryan Raider each homered for Starlight.
17 May 2299 - Hancocks Best Swatters, 7-3
The Goodneighbor Hancocks beat the Diamond City Swatters, 7-3. Goodneighbor pitcher and Pittsfield, Massachusetts, native Bruce Iddings led the way. The winning pitcher was Iddings, now 5-3. He tossed 9 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 9. Goodneighbor is now 22-10, 2 games up in the South Charles Association Minutemen League.
The Hancocks got a big at-bat from third baseman Jason Juras. For the game, Juras went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Goodneighbor a 4-3 lead.
Iddings called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."

With County Crossing leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Woolf hit a cutter from Matt Hope (5-1) for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Bloodbugs ahead, 3-0.

17 May 2299 - Party Boys Bounce Chemists, 8-5
The 8-5 Nordhagen Beach win over Sunshine Tidings was due largely to Dustin Mart. The Party Boys first baseman hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Derek Gist, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Night Demon Archacki recorded the save, his 14th.
In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Mart hit a 2-run home run to put his team ahead.
"We came out aggressive," said Party Boys manager Craig Robinson. "We came out swinging the bats. The Slog is not going away, so we need to keep doing this."
The last-place Chemists have dropped 6 straight games. Jalen Wharton hit his first home run for Sunshine Tidings since he had two in the team's first three games of the season. He finished with two hits, a run, and two RBI.
