18 May 2299 - The Slog Trades Redplate for Sunshine Tidings's Traderman
There were plenty of hugs and handshakes all around as 21-year-old minor league RHP Dan Redplate left the The Slog Ghouls today en route to joining the Sunshine Tidings Chemists organization. 28-year-old C Fon Traderman will be traveling to The Slog Ghouls to complete the swap.
Redplate will now be playing for his third team this 2299 season after he was traded from Lexington to the Chemists just three weeks ago. In four appearances this season with the Union Hope Lifegivers and Outpost Zimonja Strongbacks, Redplate has a 0-0 record with a 6.35 ERA in 5.2 innings. He is considered to be a decent future reliever in the CBO, but he needs to develop his control much better and work on improving his fastball effectiveness.
Traderman joins the Ghouls after three-plus years with the Chemists as their former starter, current backup catcher. The 18th-round pick in the CBO Inaugural Draft, Traderman has played in 109 career came with 98 starts. He has batted .306 with nine home runs and 56 RBI in his career. It is yet to be determined if Trademan will become a regular player with The Slog, but the organization is unhappy with Tony Edgewater's production and may be sending a message.
18 May 2299 - May 2299 - The Slog's Tarberry Wineyard to Welcome Party Boys
The Slog opened its new winery, the Tarberry Wineyard, this week and its first guests of honor will be the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys who are playing the Ghouls in a battle for first place in the Brotherhood League.
Holly Berry, owner of the Tarberry Wineyard, expressed her welcoming to the Party Boys team and how they would make perfect guests for the grand opening.
"What now? We're throwing a monster's ball," Berry laughed. "The party Boys will make perfect strangers for the program. I don't want to sound like the rich man's wife, but I am the queen and this is strictly business. We'll have 50 women and an X amount of men. We even have some living dolls and the cat woman, Deirdre, coming. We're serving swordfish caught at the dark tide. We'll all be like kings. Every guest gets to enter the golden circle and answer the call. It will be like their eyes were watching God."
Berry plans to hold her soiree tonight with robots as servers. Reports are that her different varieties of tarberry wines are quite potent, so it will be important for the Party Boys visiting The Clubhouse to keep their wits about them and drink moderately. Then again, they are the Party Boys. Nordhagen Beach team owner Emogene Cabot is reportedly traveling with the team this weekend. Recently it has been reported that she is looking much younger.
