23 May 2299 - T-51s Blank Mirelurks, Kawolski Wins

Sheng Kawolski of the Oberland T-51s was on top of his game today.

The 26-year-old tantalized the Warwick Mirelurks with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 7-0 shutout.

"He had the changeup working," Warwick manager Old Man Langford said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Oberland hurler had 4 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 2 hits in his complete-game effort.

Kawolski told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

Thus far this season, Kawolski has worked 61.1 innings with 69 strikeouts en route to a 5-2 record and a 3.96 ERA.

Sphinx pitched a complete game for Starlight. The 29-year-old right-hander was charged with 1 run on 6 hits. He struck out 6 during his 118-pitch performance.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Sphinx.

23 May 2299 - Hope Lifts Silver Shroud to Win

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud picked up a win at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium, knocking off the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys, 7-2. Starting pitcher Matt Hope (6-1) played a key role in the triumph. The Silver Shroud improved to a lofty 26-10.

In his 125-pitch effort, Hope allowed 2 runs on 5 hits over 9 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 7. He also hit his second career home run off Party Boys starter Derek Gist (6-1).

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Hope.

CF Ben Pawlak was the hottest hitter in the game, going 3 for 4 with three doubles to tie a Fort Hagen team record and two runs scored.

Uncle Abe Feddersen (1-1) picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Diamond City has now won 4 games in a row.
