24 May 2299 - Eastlake's Oldtimer Demands Trade, Gets Released

FHE Yao Guai minor league third baseman Mike Oldtimer returned from his personal leave with a demand to the franchise: trade me. Instead, General Manager Travis Lawver informed Eastlake Aquaboys manager Steve Feinman that Oldtimer had been released.

Oldtime first joined the Yao Guai as an undrafted free agent following the 2296 Inaugural Draft. He never played a game for them that season before being traded to the Shaw HS Knuckle Punchers along with two other players for the rights to 3B Jon Hitman, now of the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys.

Oldtimer played with the Knuckle Punchers' BMU team, the Forest Grove Mole Rats, in 2997 before being traded to Goodneighbor in the 2997 offseason. Midway through the 2298 season, he was traded back to FHE in a six-player trade.

In his minor league career with three different teams, Oldtimer is a .299/.329/.410 hitter with seven career home runs and 49 RBI.

24 May 2299 - Chemists Bonk Four Leafs, 15-1

Chemists first baseman Jalen Wharton put his stamp on his team's 15-1 win over the Finch Farm Four Leafs. Wharton was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 4 runs and drove in 2 for Sunshine Tidings in the contest. The Chemists recorded 18 hits in the game with six players getting at least two hits.

Picking up the win was Danny Beerholder. He went 9 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. The right-hander struck out 4 and walked 4. He also added two singles, a run, and an RBI. The 5th-place Chemists sport a record of 16-21.

It could have been a different outcome for Sunshine Tidings, had it not been for Dave Charred, the 31-year old left fielder. Charred contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to put Sunshine Tidings up, 1-0.

"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Charred told the Sunshine Tidings Citizen.

24 May 2299 - 5-Hit Blitz by Adams

It was a good day for the Gunners at The Stone House as they clipped the FHE Yao Guai, 10-4. It was tremendous day for Robbie Adams, who was on a hitting barrage at the plate, finishing 5-for-5.

"I don't know what to call that," the Quincy shortstop told reporters after his big performance. "I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' I just try to keep it simple. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then I hit it. Today I picked up the spin pretty well."

Robbie Adams hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.

This year Adams is hitting .277 with 4 home runs and 26 RBIs in 37 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .345 with 13 walks and 20 runs scored.

The Yao Guai fell to the Gunners today, even as 25-year-old center fielder Noah Arch upped his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games. Arch finished with 2 hits in 4 at-bats, but could not stop the Yao Guai from dropping the 10-4 decision.

"Yeah, I kept my streak going, but it would have been better to come away with a win," said Arch.

Arch flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, and hit an RBI triple in the 7th. Looking at his season stats, Arch has compiled a .387 batting average and a .409 on-base percentage, while hitting 5 home runs and driving in 30 runs.

24 May 2299 - Beach Beats Cartrette in Pitcher's Duel

Nordhagen Beach rode a good effort from starter Tommy Beach to beat the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium. The final score was 2-1. Night Demon Archacki recorded his 15th save for Nordhagen Beach. Nordhagen Beach has an impressive 25-12 record as the teams split the battle for the best of the North Charles Association.

Nordhagen Beach took a 2-1 lead on Brian Masterson's 6th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Masterson hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Fort Hagen pitcher Mike Cartrette visibly frustrated.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said Fort Hagen manager Mark Andersen.

Mike Cartrette (6-2) suffered the loss, allowing just two earned runs on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts in 7.1 innings.

24 May 2299 - Deathclaws Drop Swatters, 7-4

University Point and Diamond City duked it out and the Deathclaws came out victorious.

Jason Harris impressed in the 7-4 University Point win over Diamond City. Harris went 2-4 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. The winner was Quentin Malone, who threw 125 pitches over 8.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits. The save was credited to Marc Pondsip, his 8th.

Harris had a key at-bat for University Point early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 2-run double. It was his 11th double of the season and gave University Point an early 2-0 lead.

"It feels good to get this one," Harris told the University Point Daily News.

The win elevated the Deathclaws to 20-17.
