10 June 2299 - Egret-Sunshine Tidings Trade: Thompson for Bertha
The Ninjas and Chemists pulled the trigger on a deal that will see 20-year-old minor league 3B Cy Thompson, a 5th round draft pick and a 3rd round draft pick head to Sunshine Tidings in exchange for 22-year-old LHP Tony Bertha, 21-year-old minor league RF Bat Savelli, 21-year-old minor league LF Ben Baskethat and a 3rd round draft pick. A source close to Egret officials said "The teams spent long hours coming to the agreement and in the end, both agreed the deal should help both clubs."
In 12 starts this season Bertha has rung up a 7-2 record and a 2.70 ERA.
10 June 2299 - Hancocks, Duck Blast Gunners, 13-1
The Goodneighbor Hancocks coasted to a win over the Quincy Gunners, 13-1. Good Don Duck had a good day at the plate for Goodneighbor. He went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5. Goodneighbor raised its record to 35-14 with the win.
With Goodneighbor leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Duck came up to bat against Quincy pitcher Joey Dimes. Duck hit a changeup to right for a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season put the Hancocks on top, 4-0.
Said losing manager Kevin Banner: "Give the Hancocks credit. They took advantage of our mistakes."
10 June 2299 - Ashfire HR-Happy in 5-4 Win
The 5-4 Atom win over Warwick was due in large part to Will Ashfire. The Cats first baseman belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Chris Leggman nailed down his 4th save. The win puts Atom at 14-35.
Ashfire had a timely hit for Atom in the bottom of the eighth. With Warwick trailing 4-3, he turned a full count cutter into a 2-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Atom.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Ashfire told the Atom Citizen.
10 June 2299 - Dominant Performance by Fusion in Diamond City Win
Diamond City Swatters starter Tim Fusion turned in a top-notch performance against the Vault 81 Dwellers at The Great Green Jewel. The result was a win for the Swatters, 4-1. Josh Samm locked down his 23rd save. The South Charles Association Railroad League-leading Swatters have a record of 35-14.
Vault 81 could barely put a dent in Fusion. The left-hander tossed 98 pitches over 8 innings for the Swatters, allowing only 3 hits.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Fusion said.
10 June 2299 - Assaultrons Lose By a Run at Nordhagen Beach, 6-5
Nordhagen Beach beat Easy Town at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to second baseman Brian Masterson. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Tom Mannequin finished to wrap up his 3rd save. The Party Boys improved to a lofty 35-14.
Nordhagen Beach took a 5-4 lead on C3-88 Puppetboy's 1st home run of the season. The solo home run, which Puppetboy hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Easy Town pitcher Smoker Caliman shaking his head.
"It was a solid team effort," said Masterson after the game.
10 June 2299 - Silver Shroud Win at Starlight, 4-2
The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud got a strong performance from pitcher Mike Cartrette, who stymied the Starlight offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Valentine Detective Agency Field. Getting the save was Curtis Thriceshot, his 12th. Fort Hagen is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Fort Hagen used a well-timed hit by Ben Pawlak to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Silver Shroud ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Cartrette said.
