NCAA: The Willamette University Bearcats won their first NCAA Title in a tightly contested victory over Green River College by a score of 2-1.
1977 NCAA Final Four: Green River College over Seattle Central College, 4-1; Willamette University over University of Alaska Anchorage, 1-0.
1977 NCAA Championship: Willamette University over Green River College, 2-1.
Top Hitter: 3B Roy Stewart (18, Portland State Vikings… not even a top recruit) - His winning campaign featured a .419 batting average and a .453 on-base percentage this year. In 48 games he piled up 85 hits, 16 doubles, no triples, 12 home runs, 64 RBIs and 40 runs scored.
Top Pitcher: SP Bobby Cloutier (20, Edmonds College Tritons) - Cloutier compiled a 9-2 record in 11 starts, tallied 145 strikeouts in 92 innings, and recorded a 1.17 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .219 batting average against him.
