The pride of Toppenish, WA – the Heritage University Eagles – ran roughshod over all comers during the 1978 NCAA campaign and, once the dust had settled after their rise to the top of the pops, earned their 2nd NCAA Championship in school history.

1978 NCAA Final Four: Heritage University over Portland State, 3-2; Lewis & Clark State Warriors over Pacific Lutheran University Lutes, 6-1.
1978 NCAA Championship: Heritage University over Lewis & Clark State, 9-1.

Top Hitter: 3B Roy Stewart (19, Portland State Vikings) - He had a .408 batting average and a .487 on-base percentage this year. In 48 games he piled up 82 hits, 18 doubles, 3 triples, 7 home runs, 46 RBIs and 38 runs scored. 2x Winner.

Top Pitcher: SP Travis Stevens (20, Portland State Vikings) - In 11 starts and 94.1 innings, Stevens yielded 67 hits, holding the opposition to a .193 average. He chalked up 132 strikeouts and posted a 1.62 ERA.
