Walkers news: July 11 -- Cincinnati 2, St. Louis 1
Record: 56-34, 1st, 1.5 GA Des Moines
Mason Montgomery shut out St. Louis over the first five innings, and the Cincinnati bullpen extended that until the bottom of the ninth as the River Sharks downed St. Louis 2-1 at Busch Stadium (1997).
The win gave Cincy victories in three of their four games with the River Walkers.
Montgomery (3-1) scattered four hits while striking out five and walking one over the first five innings.
Brendan McKay, Nick Ferretti and Jose Castenada all followed with scoreless innings to get the game into the bottom of the ninth, with the Sharks leading 2-0.
Sean Williams did give up a two-out homer to Jose Segura, but still came out of it with his 16th save.
The Sharks got both their runs on a two-run homer by Alex Richards off Walkers starter Zack Hunsicker in the top of the fourth.
