NCAA: After defeating the University of Washington by a score of 6-2 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, the Lower Columbia College Red Devils made short work of the rest of their opponents on the way to earning their 2nd championship and first since 1973.
1979 NCAA Final Four: Skagit Valley College defeats Sheridan College Bruins by a score of 4-0; Lower Columbia College defeats Spokane Community College by a score of 2-1.
1979 NCAA Championship: Lower Columbia College Defeats Skagit Valley College, 5-3.
Top Hitter: 3B Noble Gordon (19, Southwestern Oregon CC) - The Southwestern Oregon CC Sharks star put up a .327 average and .409 on-base percentage this year, with 66 hits, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 16 home runs, 52 RBIs, and 43 runs scored.
Top Pitcher: SP Bennett Spurlock (19, Seattle Pacific University) - During the 1979 campaign, Spurlock excelled with a 6-2 won-lost mark in 10 starts. In 84 innings he yielded 50 hits and 20 walks, while striking out 108 and compiling an impressive 0.96 ERA.
