2044-2050: Always Nuka-Cola
The Nuka-Cola Corporation entered the beverage market in 2044, with the invention of the soft drink by John-Caleb Bradberton after two years of experimentation. Though strictly unhealthy (containing 120% of the recommended daily allowance of sugar), it took the United States market by storm and within a year it could be purchased nationwide. Its popularity rapidly increased and within several years it was the most popular beverage across the globe. Inspired by his brand's success, Bradberton decided to open an amusement park dedicated to the soft drink. Nuka-World opened on May 1, 2050, less than a year after ground was broken for its construction. The first two sections in the park were the Kiddie Kingdom and Nuka-Town U.S.A., but more were added, with 6 sections as of 2077. Safari Adventure, Dry Rock Gulch, The World of Refreshment, and Galactic Zone were all added later.
The constant drive to improve and innovate the formula resulted in numerous flavor variations, with the most popular ones like Cherry, Grape, and Orange released just a few years after the corporation was founded.
2050-2077: Bottling Nuka and Bottling Tourists
This industrial facility has been converted by the Nuka-Cola Corporation to serve as an attraction on top of its normal duties. The standard bottling facilities were augmented with a water ride, dumping hundreds of gallons of processed Nuka-Cola to form a regular river. In October 2077, the river was made of Nuka-Cola Quantum, the newest, hottest beverage in the Nuka-Cola catalog.
The World of Refreshment was a Nuka-Cola manufacturing plant with a guided tour. Due to one part of the tour being an actual river of Nuka-Cola Quantum, it was later infested with Nukalurks.
2076: Leap-X and Project Cobalt
Bradberton went beyond corporate deals and favors when it came to ensuring his own survival. On March 13, 2076, when General Braxton requested the services of Bradberton's Beverageers, a team of world-class organic chemists developing new tastes and additives to the soft drink, Bradberton made a bargain: In exchange for his chemists aiding the military's chemical weapons program, he would be provided with access to the military LEAP-X (Life Extension And Prolongation) Program. He pooled his immense fortune and embezzled funds from Nuka-World's budget to cover the expense of the LEAP-X project, including the salaries of the researchers he hired to ensure the prototype device works.
The military did not complain, as in October, the head of the chemical weapons program reported that his team created an isotope of strontium-90 that could be reliably weaponized, as a coating for power armor, a custom munition for the prototypical M42 Fat Man, or even an area effect weapon that could be safely deployed from something as simple as a Thirst Zapper. It could also be used "somewhat safely" in a new kind of Nuka-Cola. Bradberton ordered it to be put into production, as the Nuka-Cola Quantum (named after the isotope designation in the Beverageer's system).
The Project Cobalt schematics were the final culmination of the U.S. Army and the Nuka-Cola Corporation's partnership in weaponizing their unique Strontium isotope found in Nuka-Cola Quantum. Project Cobalt was created wholly by the scientists of the Beverageer Division below Nuka-World's World of Refreshment. It was tested, finalized and printed by head researcher Rex Meacham after the bombs fell and shortly before his death from radiation poisoning. Project Cobalt's ultimate goal was to create a substance that could theoretically weaponize anything, the most notable example being the weaponized Nuka-Cola Quantum paddleball.
2077-2288: The River of Sludge
Eventually, with no humans to prevent the invasion of local wildlife, the plant became a nest for the local mirelurk population. Over time, the River of Quantum and its strontium additives mutated these mirelurks further, and over the generations, they grew faster, tougher, and deadlier than their regular counterparts.
It is for this reason that Sergeant Lanier's recon team was entirely wiped out. The Nukalurks knew to use their natural defenses to their advantage and gradually wore down the Gunners through attrition. Lanier's team made a last stand by the Quantum bottler but were wiped out by the Nukalurks. Even their support, pre-War RobCo Assaultrons, could not save them.
2288-2299: Re-Bottling Nuka and Re-Bottling Tourists
Upon entering, one will be in the newest feature within the "World of Refreshment," the "River of Quantum," which snakes through the structure. One will be able to hear the history of Nuka-Cola accompanied by sets that illustrate the story.
Tourists have the opportunity to tour the facilities, including the River of Quantum ride, a tour of the bottling plant, and unlimited samples of Nuka-Cola's nine delicious flavors.
