21 June 2299 - Injury Brings Season to End for Ciccone

Chris Ciccone has to call it a season. The Lexington Synths starting pitcher learned today that the full extent his injury suffered on 06/18/2299 is worse than hoped. He will not play again this year according to club doctors, who diagnosed the injury as a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament and stated that he would not be able to play for 10 months. The team will likely place Ciccone on the injured list today.

This season Ciccone has registered 2 wins and 9 losses in 14 starts with a 5.81 ERA.

21 June 2299 - BMU: Dude Has 'Remember Me?' Moment, Ks 15

Josh Dude really had Boston Common batters swinging and missing today at Memory Den Field. Dude sat down 15 hitters on strikes and whipped the Lead Bellies 7-2. He allowed 6 hits and gave up 1 walk in a standout mound performance in 8.2 innings. Dude would have pitched a complete-game, but had to leave the game after experiencing tightness in his hamstring.

On his stats sheet for the year Dude shows a 3-4 record, 10 starts, 72.2 innings, 84 strikeouts and a 3.59 ERA.

With Dude's performance today, and Eastlake Aquaboys' LF Adam Crook BMU Player of the Day performance on Monday, we are considering a "What happened?" story on former CBO Inaugural Draft high picks and starters now playing in the BMU. Dude was taken in the 5th round of the 2296 Inaugural Draft by the Finch Farm Four Leafs, while Crook was taken in the 4th round by the Fairline Hill Estates (FHE) Yao Guai and was once considered a rising star.

21 June 2299 - Swatters Drop Hancocks, 2-1, in 10

The Goodneighbor Hancocks got a superb performance from pitcher Bruce Iddings. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Diamond City. The Swatters won the game, 2-1, in 10 innings. Iddings threw 9 innings of 3-hit ball. Diamond City reliever Josh Samm picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Bus Paula (0-4) was saddled with the loss. With the win, Diamond City upped its record to 40-17, one game back of the Hancocks for South Charles Association supremacy.

The Swatters procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Allen Bishop. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

Bishop called the win "a lesson in teamwork."

Diamond City's Tim Fusion was also good on the day. He allowed just one earned run on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts in 9.0 innings.

21 June 2299 - Westing Hurls Abernathy to Shutout Victory

Brad Westing kept the opposition off the scoreboard and the Abernathy Adamantium were all smiles after winning 5-0 against the Easy Town Assaultrons at Tato Field today. The left-handed Westing gave up no runs in his start, permitted 5 hits and had 7 strikeouts.

"If there was a stat for 'team shutout,' this would be it," Westing said later. "My catcher, Dan Neo, called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be."

Up to now Westing has recorded a record of 6-5. In 15 starts he has fanned 98 batters in 107.1 innings with a 3.27 ERA.

21 June 2299 - Cartrette K's 11 En Route to 3-2 Silver Shroud Win

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud did just enough to sneak past the Finch Farm Four Leafs, 3-2, at Finch Family Park. Fort Hagen pitcher Mike Cartrette, in particular, had a standout performance. Curtis Thriceshot was called on to finish, recording his 15th save. The North Charles Association Institute League-leading Silver Shroud have a record of 38-19.

Cartrette (10-2), the Fort Hagen left-hander, went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. He collected 11 strikeouts. He now leads the North Charles Association in wins and extends his season-leading strikeout lead to 126, 14 more than Nordhagen Beach's Tommy Beach.

"I had pretty good command out there," said Cartrette.

The Shroud had contributions from several players on offense, but Andrew Nuka's two-out solo home run (14) in the top of the 3rd proved to be the game-winning hit. It put Fort Hagen up 3-1 at the time. It was also the Silver Shroud's only extra-base hit.

Matt Basile (8) and Nate Gless (5) each hit solo shots for the Four Leafs.

21 June 2299 - Radstags Squelch Party Boys Offense in Shutout Win

Concord starter Chris Radsco pitched well against the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys at Nuka Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-0. Concord now sits in 5th place in the North Charles Association Institute League at 25-32.

In the bottom of the third, Ricky Ticky Laughy hit a 2-run double. The 16th double of the season for the Concord center fielder put the Radstags on top, 2-0.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Concord manager Mark Gourdroot. "It's usually not just one thing."

Radsco (5-5) did not allow a run in 7.0 innings. He allowed seven hits and struck out eight. Chet Arthur suffered just his second loss of the season, dropping to 6-2.

21 June 2299 - Lady Killers Deal Ghouls 6-2 Loss

Starlight got a strong outing from City Moore as the Lady Killers defeated the The Slog Ghouls, 6-2, at Tarberry Field Forever. With the win, the Lady Killers hiked their record to 31-26, just one game back of Abernathy for the Institute League wildcard spot. The Ghouls dropped their third straight.

Starlight used a well-timed hit by Hubris McBride to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Lady Killers ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said McBride.

Starlight second baseman Alec Bullets keeps on racking up hits every time he plays. His hitting streak now stands at 20 games after collecting 1 hit today.

"I have been seeing the ball really good the last few weeks, but I am a bit surprised how things are working out," Bullets said. "I've gotten a couple flares to drop in, so I've also been a little lucky."

Bullets struck out in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Dan Dozier in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, and grounded out in the 8th. This season Bullets is hitting .311 with 4 home runs.
