October/November 1981:
WML: The Kent Comets won their 6th Cosmic Crisp series and successfully stopped Ellensburg’s bid to win back-to-back titles. CF Johnny Conway earned the series MVP after hitting .550 with a homer and 5 RBIs for the series.
1981 Playoffs:
Cosmic Crisp Series: Kent Comets defeat Ellensburg Bulls, 4-1.
NLCS: Kent Comets defeat Sequim Sun Dogs, 4-2.
CLCS: Ellensburg Bulls defeat Arlington Hooters, 4-3
NL Aydan Adams Award (MVP): RF Aramis Keenan (24, Forks Loggers, 3rd overall pick out of Shoreline Community College in 1978) - His winning campaign featured a .305 batting average and a .401 on-base percentage this year. In 159 games he piled up 184 hits, 42 doubles, 9 triples, 19 home runs, 75 RBIs and 79 runs scored.
CL Aydan Adams Award (MVP): RF Sonny Tyler (25, Arlington Hooters, 13th Ovr. Pick out of Lower Columbia College in 1977) - On the season he compiled a .348 batting average to go with a .400 on-base percentage. The native of Ammon, Idaho also added 38 doubles, 4 triples, 30 home runs, 120 RBIs, and 95 runs scored. This is his 2nd win in consecutive seasons.
NL Mason Donnelly Award (Top Pitcher): SP Cason Stone (24, Ocean Shore Tsunami, 122nd overall pick out of Eastern Oregon in 1977) - Stone compiled a 20-13 record in 37 starts, tallied 241 strikeouts in 311.2 innings and recorded a 3.09 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .226 batting average against him.
CL Mason Donnelly Award (Top Pitcher): SP Bobby Cloutier (25, Wenatchee Whistlers, 1st overall pick out of Edmonds College in 1977) - He went 15-10 in 36 starts with 238 strikeouts in 289.2 innings and an impressive 1.99 ERA. Dean Moon of the Ellensburg Bulls finished second in voting, while Kyle Harlow of the Bothell Brainiacs finished third.
