27 June 2299 - Finch Farm Trades Lockpick for Orange's Coltrain
It's all done except the paperwork. The Finch Farm Four Leafs and the Orange Tourists have agreed to a trade that will send 27-year-old minor league RF David Lockpick to Orange, while 19-year-old 3B Andy Coltrain will be shipped to Finch Farm. A top front office executive with the Four Leafs described the trade talks as "quick and easy."
"We're glad to get this deal done. We think it's something that helps our ball club and it didn't take too long at all to sort this one out," he said.
Lockpick was originally selected by the Four Leafs in the 16th round of the 2296 CBO Inaugural Draft. In 96 games with Finch Farm, he never started a game.
27 June 2299 - Egret Ninjas Ship Estate to Abernathy
The Egret Ninjas announced a deal with the Adamantium today, sending 30-year-old RHP Gary Estate to Abernathy for 21-year-old C Goose Bohinski. It had been talked about for the past few weeks and everything came together late last night. All players are expected to be joining their respective clubs shortly.
This year Estate has a 4-6 record and a 5.67 ERA.
27 June 2299 - Egret-Salem Trade: Bertha for Bellingham
The Ninjas and Witch Hats announced a deal that was completed today. Egret sent 22-year-old LHP Tony Bertha and a 4th round draft pick to Salem for 22-year-old minor league RHP Ryan Mills, 22-year-old minor league RF Governor Bellingham and a 5th round draft pick. Both teams appear happy with the outcome of the trade. The general managers told the Baseball News Network they felt the swap was beneficial for all parties involved.
Checking out his stats for the season, Bertha has registered 7 wins and 2 losses in 12 starts, 2.70 ERA and struck out 80 batters in 96.2 innings.
27 June 2299 - Marble Fires Shutout in Lexington Victory
Tristan Marble of the Lexington Synths was right on target as he blanked the Finch Farm Four Leafs 5-0, yielding 4 hits and totaling 15 strikeouts and no walks.
"I had everything working today and I got some help from my defense, too," Marble said, speaking to BNN reporters after the game. "They saved my butt a few times."
Thus far this season Marble has posted a 4-7 record, started 16 games, struck out 79 batters in 104.2 innings and compiled a 3.78 ERA.
27 June 2299 - Razor-Sharp Oldsink Blanks Diamond City
It wasn't easy but John Oldsink made it look that way.
Oldsink silenced the Diamond City Swatters, 5-0, in a Goodneighbor Hancocks triumph at Third Rail Stadium at S. Boston HS today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Oldsink said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 1 walk and 3 hits.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."
For the season Oldsink has compiled a 9-4 record with a 3.49 ERA.
27 June 2299 - Beebe Hits 2 Home Runs in Red Rockets Win
Jamaica Plain took on Oberland in front of a lively crowd.
The 9-2 Jamaica Plain win over Oberland was due largely to Damani Beebe. The Red Rockets right fielder hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The victory gives Jamaica Plain a record of 31-30.
Cody Flatt took Matt Udder deep in the top of the second. His 2-run home run put the Red Rockets on top, 2-0. In all, Flatt had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Flatt.
27 June 2299 - Party Boys Cut Down Chemists, 10-7
Michael Fogcrawler helped his team muscle past the Sunshine Tidings Chemists, 10-7. In the game, the Nordhagen Beach left fielder was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The winner was Mike Waterdrinker in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Nick Michelsen took the loss. Tom Mannequin was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 10 save opportunities.
Fogcrawler had an important at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the seventh, when he hit a run-scoring single. The Party Boys went on to win.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Craig Robinson.
With the victory, the Party Boys upped their record to 44-17.
27 June 2299 - Witch Hats Trip Silver Shroud, 5-3, in Extra Innings
The Salem Witch Hats stopped the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, 5-3, at Vim! Park of Salem. The Witch Hats got a big game from Chris Treestump, who went 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Salem raised its record to 33-28 with the win.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With one out, Treestump hit a changeup from Curtis Thriceshot for a 2-run home run. The Witch Hats, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"What a buzz," said Treestump after it was over.
