28 June 2299 - BMU: Martinson Pitches Rayguns to Shutout Victory

Deedee Martinson* of the Cabot House Rayguns whitewashed the Forest Grove Mole Rats 8-0 in a complete-game win, limiting them to 1 hit while chalking up 7 strikeouts and giving up 3 walks.

"He's got the makeup. He's not afraid to challenge guys," Cabot House manager Fourth Wall said to BNN reporters after the game. "Deedee is poised out there. He knows how to pitch and how to use his stuff."

This season Martinson has compiled a 6-3 mark with a 3.31 ERA in 10 starts.

28 June 2299 - BMU: Action Boys Hurler Roberts Tosses Masterpiece

The Vault 95 Robobrains had no answer today for Postal Square Action Boys pitcher Rapid Roberts. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 5-0. Vault 95 managed only 2 hits off Roberts, who had 10 strikeouts.

The extraordinarily popular Roberts got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.

"Action Boys fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."

28 June 2299 - Cats Defeat Knuckle Punchers, 8-6, in 11

The Atom Cats weathered an outstanding game by Roxbury center fielder Edward Cox to topple the Knuckle Punchers, 8-6, in 11 innings. Cox went 4 for 5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Scruffy Taguchi was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities. The last-place Cats have won 5 consecutive games.

The most important at-bat for Atom came in the top of the 11th inning, when right fielder Baywatch Fischler stroked a full count slider to left for a run-scoring single, putting Atom up, 7-6.

In postgame comments, Fischler said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."

28 June 2299 - Schneier Goes Distance in 7-1 Win

Starlight pitcher Chris Schneier did his part in helping his team beat the County Crossing Bloodbugs, 7-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Starlight now has a record of 34-28 with the win.

Schneier scattered 5 hits over 9 innings for the Lady Killers. With the win, Schneier moves to 5-6 on the year with 78 strikeouts.

"I had everything working," said Schneier.

Alec Bullets, second baseman for the Starlight Lady Killers, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 25 games with 1 hit in his club's 7-1 victory today.

"Not the outcome we wanted," County Crossing manager Biff Future said. "There's never a good time to lose, and it's never fun to be on the wrong end of somebody else's accomplishment."

Alec Bullets grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.

To date this season Bullets is hitting .313 with 4 home runs.

28 June 2299 - Gatekeeper 3-4, Leads Mirelurks to Win

A 4-RBI performance from third baseman Tutton Gatekeeper, who is on pace for 68 RBI this season, led the Warwick Mirelurks to a win over the Egret Ninjas, 6-3. Brian Bridges, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 2-1. Sheffield Williams earned the save, his 13th.

With Warwick leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Gatekeeper hit a changeup from Nick Poppa for a grand slam home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Mirelurks ahead, 6-0.

"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Gatekeeper.

The win has Warwick at 23-39.

28 June 2299 - Party Boys Drop Chemists, 6-1

Starting pitcher Julian Shed was a major factor in the 6-1 Nordhagen Beach Party Boys triumph over the Sunshine Tidings Chemists. Nordhagen Beach raised its record to 45-17 with the win.

Early in the game, second baseman Brian Masterson had a 3-run home run for Nordhagen Beach. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Party Boys on top, 3-1.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Masterson told the Nordhagen Beach News.

28 June 2299 - Fort Hagen Beats Salem, 9-1

The Fort Hagen Silver Shroud racked up a win at Vim! Park of Salem, bumping off the Salem Witch Hats, 9-1. Brent Hooker, who started for Fort Hagen, pitched effectively for his team. Hooker, now 8-3, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Silver Shroud sport a record of 41-21.

Fort Hagen used the timely hitting of Micah Morals to capture the win. The third baseman socked a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Silver Shroud ahead, 7-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Morals told the Fort Hagen Gazette.

28 June 2299 - Swatters Win at Goodneighbor, 7-4

Behind the hitting of Oren Gep*, the Diamond City Swatters stopped the Goodneighbor Hancocks, 7-4. Gep went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Swatters. The winning pitcher was X10-44 Mannson. He's now 7-3. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits for the Swatters. The Swatters have an impressive 44-18 record.

Diamond City used the timely hitting of Danny Suarez to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Swatters ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Gep told the Diamond City News.
