Walkers news: August 7 -- Indianapolis 5, St. Louis 1

Record: 64-45, 2nd, 3.5 GB Des Moines
Indianapolis broke open a scoreless game by scoring four times against St. Louis rookie starting pitcher Xavier Wigfall in the top of the fifth inning and the Racers rode that to a 5-1 win at Busch Stadium (1997).
Wigfall had allowed just one hit before Mike Courtney opened the top of the fifth with a double.
He hit the next batter, Adrian Penucci, with a pitch.
Jonathan Vaughns followed that by reaching on an error by second baseman Daniel Becerra to load the bases.
Wigfall got Greg Colvin to hit into a fielder's choice where Courtney was thrown out at the plate for the first out.
But Mike Lamoureux got the Racers on the board with a single to score Penucci.
Pitcher Matt Walilzer made it worse with a two-run double.
Joel Pal made it 4-0 with a third straight hit, a sigle which scored Lamoreux.
Indy made it 5-0 an inning later.
Penucci doubled with one out off reliever Nick Ruffalo.
He scored on a two-out double by Colvin.
Walizer (1-1) , who the Racers acquired from Cedar Rapids before the trade deadline, earned his first win for Indy by going six shutout innings during which he allowed six hits. He struck out three and walked one.
Greg Keith got the first two outs of the sixth before giving way to Glenn Dunn, who finished it off and than pitched into the ninth.
Nate Green struck out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth.
