9 July 2299 - Red-Hot Sphinx Cools Off Fort Hagen

Justin Sphinx shut out the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud 1-0 on a 4-hit masterpiece for the Starlight Lady Killers at Hubris Comics Park today.

"He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Starlight skipper Eric Bendure said afterward.

Sphinx registered 5 strikeouts and issued 3 walks in pitching a gem.

"We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Fort Hagen manager Mark Andersen after the defeat.

This year Sphinx has compiled a 11-4 record with a 4.23 ERA in 17 starts.

9 July 2299 - Notes: Starlight-Fort Hagen Hit Streak News

Hit Streak Now at 31 for Bullets: Lady Killers second baseman Alec Bullets has extended his hitting streak to 31 games. He went 1-for-4 in today's game against the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud. Starlight won the ballgame 1-0.

"It was not a good day today," Tiller told the press in postgame comments. "We lost the game and the streak is over."

To date this season Tiller is hitting .350 with 15 home runs.

Lady Killers Stop Dungan at 22: Well Done Dungan, shortstop for the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 4 tries against the Starlight Lady Killers today. Not only did the Lady Killers break his 22-game hitting streak, they also beat Fort Hagen by the score of 1-0.

"Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Dungan said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate."

For the season Dungan has produced 96 hits in 292 at-bats for a .329 average with no home runs and gotten on base at a .367 clip.
