Here are the standings and leaders as we head into the final week of the 2031 season:
I scrolled past the Rays so I could fit in the AL Wild Card Race. The AL Central is up for grabs with the loser (and the Angels) needing to hold off Detroit for a wild card. The White Sox host Detroit on the final weekend but for the Tigers to remain relevant they're going to have to negotiate a tough 3-game series in Texas, ironically the team that beat them in the playoffs the last three years. So most likely the AL wild cards will be the Central loser and the Angels.
In the NL there are a couple of divisions at stake with Washington looking to hold off Columbus and the Dodgers and Diamondbacks neck-and-neck. The stakes are much higher in the East as the loser of that race will not have a wild card to fall back on.
