23 July 2299 - Hodges Subdues Bloodworms, Quartz Earns Nuka Series Spot
The Quartz Star Force knocked off the Dark Bloodworms, 2-0, at Ol' Sugartop Ballpark at Dry Rock Gulch. Kyle Hodges was a big reason Quartz won. The pitcher threw 8 innings of shutout ball. Quartz improves to 47-34 with the win, earning them at least the wildcard spot in the Nuka Series. They also lead the league by 2 games with 3 to play.
In his 116-pitch effort, Hodges (6-1) allowed no runs on 4 hits over 8.2 innings. He walked 1 and struck out 7. Nick Turpin earned his 19th save.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Hodges said after the game.
Bell Clark's solo home run in the top of the 6th proved to be the game-winning hit of Bloodworms starter Sam Morris (3-5).
