October 13, 2031: ALDS Game 2

Welp...

Hate to say it, but the Jordan Diaz injury loomed large tonight as Tim Siqueiros couldn't get the job done in a critical situation and the Rays lost Game 2 to Detroit 5-3 to fall into a series tie. Jon Hayes survived some early ineffectiveness to settle in and hold the game at 3-3 until the 8 when with one out he walked a man. With some righties due up Siqueiros got the call and walked a man himself, putting 2 on with one out. He got former Ray Spencer Torkelson (who had homered off Hayes in the 1st) to fly out, but Blaze Jordan blazed a double into the corner in right, scoring both runners and putting the Tigers ahead for good. The offense once again was largely AWOL. It didn't hurt him last night thanks to Andy Aparicio's gem but it cost them tonight as they only managed 6 hits off Detroit starter Alek Manoah and nothing off rookie closer Alex Olmos. Jasson Dominguez was the offense tonight, singling and coming around to score on a Connor Kirkley single in the 2nd, and blasting a 2-run homer to tie the game in the 4th. Nate Clark had to leave the game in the 3rd with neck stiffness making a throw, but it's minimal so he'll be back in the lineup for Game 3, which will have Christian Little trying to restore the series advantage to the Rays.

In the other ALDS:

Cleveland is one game away from the ALCS after getting to Texas ace Wil Diaz for 5 runs in a 7-3 win, a game in which they turned 4 double plays to stymie several Ranger rallies.
