30 July 2999 - Walk-Off Win Makes Concord 36-47

The Concord Radstags had to overcome a big game from Starlight first baseman Zeldolph Violet to leave Nuka Park with a victory. And they did, winning 12-11. Violet was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3. Concord reliever Bell Franklin got the win, raising his record to 5-9. John Walden was tagged with the loss. The Radstags now have a mark of 36-47.

Josh McIntyre was the walk-off hero for Concord. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Radstags second baseman hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"They're fun to watch and the hitters get to pad their stats but nobody's really happy about a game like that," Concord manager Mark Gourdroot. "I promise you I'm not happy."

30 July 2299 - Bloodbugs Pitching Ravaged by Masterson, Boys

Brian Masterson had an answer for everything the County Crossing Bloodbugs threw at him today at Slocum's Joe Seaside Stadium. The Nordhagen Beach second baseman went 5-for-5 in the game to put his name in the record book and put the Party Boys on top, 16-1.

Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Masterson said, "I just see the ball and I hit it."

Brian Masterson singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, and hit a sac fly in the 8th.

During the current season Masterson is batting at a .328 clip with 7 home runs and 43 RBIs. He has played in 83 games and scored 62 times.

In addition to Masterson, three other Nordhagen Beach players had three hits. Jonathan Angelou was 3 for 6 with a triple, a home run, two runs, and four RBI. Dustin Mart was 3 for 6 with a double, a home run, two runs, and five RBI. Pointie Shroud was 3 for 5 with a double, three runs, and an RBI.

Chet Arthur (8-3) gave up just one earned run on five hits with seven strikeouts in 6.0 innings.

30 July 2299 - Cuttooth Hits 2 Home Runs in Hancocks Win

The Goodneighbor Hancocks downed the University Point Deathclaws, 8-7, at Third Rail Stadium at S. Boston HS. Burtie Cuttooth led the way, going 2-for-3 for Goodneighbor. John Oldsink earned the win for Goodneighbor. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 4 runs on 12 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 11-6. Bus Paula was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 25 save opportunities.

With one out in the bottom of the fourth, Jason Juras barreled up a fastball from Adam Froggatt. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Hancocks in front, 5-2.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Juras told the Goodneighbor Bulletin.

Goodneighbor goes to 58-25. The win puts them 10½ games up in their division.

30 July 2299 - Chemists Beat Visiting Silver Shroud, 8-7

The Sunshine Tidings Chemists powered past the Fort Hagen Silver Shroud, 8-7, at ArcJet Systems Stadium. Jalen Wharton was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3, to lead the charge. Danny Beerholder picked up the win with 7.2 innings of work. He allowed 5 runs on 11 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 5-8. Vince Moon was credited with the save, his 7th in 8 tries.

Brightsun Ramos hit a 3-run home run off Derek Green in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Chemists ahead, 6-3. In addition to the homer, Ramos had 1 double, while going 2 for 5.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Fort Hagen manager Mark Andersen. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."

The last-place Chemists now have a win-loss record of 35-48.

After 35 games, Sunshine Tidings center fielder Frank Corsica saw his hitting streak end when he went hitless in 4 at-bats.

"It was a good run," Corsica said after the game. "It was bound to end at some point. I'm just glad we won the day it ended."

Thus far this year Corsica has hit .371 with 5 home runs and 39 RBIs.
