4 August 2299 - Vault 81 Starting to "Feel" It

The Vault 81 Dwellers have made it their 2299 mission to better Oberland in the race for 2nd place in the Railroad League. Now, some of their players are taking the hype and excitement to up their games.

Dwellers manager Jason Personhood pointed out a few players that he says are making progress as we head into the last month of the season.

"There are four guys I want to point out today for their dedication to hard work," Personhood said. "Me and coaches Art [Clarke], David [Brown], and Murder [Downey] have been watching these guys and enjoying their commitment to building a winning attitude."

Personhood pointed out 7th reliever Danny Haines, backup catcher Ronald Raygun, left fielder Sklyer Pickpocket, and center fielder Aesed Hayjen as showing improvement for the stretch run.

"Our hitters have been working hard to cut down strikes," Personhood said, "and our pitcher has been working a lot on getting more movement on his pitches. If they can show practice results on the field, we might just have a chance. Got to bet up on Diamond City first, though."

The Dwellers travel to Diamond City for a weekend series between the top two teams in the Railroad League. The Swatters lead the season series 5-4 as they meet for the last time this regular season. Vault 81 follows up that series with trips to Goodneighbor and Oberland next week before the Hancocks travel to the Vault.

"This is the toughest 10-game stretch of our season," Personhood said. "This is do or die for our season. We need everybody to step up."

4 August 2299 - Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Swatters

Diamond City third baseman Allen Bishop helped his team beat the Vault 81 Dwellers, 8-7, in 13 innings. Bishop, who is tied for 6th in the SCA in triples with 6, went 4 for 6 for the Swatters. The Swatters have an impressive 59-27 record, a 14-game lead over the Dwellers.

The Swatters relied on right fielder Wayne Lacy for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 13th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"We'd like to put some distance between ourselves and the rest of the division," said Bishop.

4 August 2299 - Mart, Party Boys Wallop Witch Hats, 13-2

Nordhagen Beach first baseman Dustin Mart was a significant contributor in his team's 13-2 triumph over the Salem Witch Hats. He was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for Nordhagen Beach. Chet Arthur, the winning pitcher, improved to 9-3. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 0. Nordhagen Beach improves to 59-27 with the win. They lead their division by 14 games.

Michael Fogcrawler had a big hit for Nordhagen Beach in the top of the third inning. With Nordhagen Beach leading 2-0, Fogcrawler hit a 3-run home run. It was his 22nd home run of the season and put the Party Boys up, 5-0.

"It's a good day to be a fan after a win like that," Fogcrawler told the Nordhagen Beach News.

4 August 2299 - Yao Guai Fall, 10-6, to Danse, Ninjas

Getting a good performance from left fielder Paladin Danse, the Egret Ninjas defeated the FHE Yao Guai, 10-6. Danse went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 for the Ninjas. Egret is now 42-44, FHE 37-49.

Egret used a timely hit from Dog Prairie to get the win. The third baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Ninjas ahead, 9-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Danse told the Egret News.

4 August 2299 - Silver Shroud Bridle Radstags, 4-2

Behind an impressive start by Mike Cartrette, Fort Hagen beat Concord, 4-2. Curtis Thriceshot got the save, his 27th in 30 chances. Fort Hagen raised its record to 56-30 with the win.

In the bottom of the second, Fort Hagen shortstop Well Done Dungan had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Dungan stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 2-0, Fort Hagen. For the game, he was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Fort Hagen manager Mark Andersen.

Cartrette (15-3) allowed two earned runs on five hits with a walk and 10 strikeouts in just 5.2 innings.
