5 August 2299 - Mart Slugs Party Boys to 5-2 Win

A 4-RBI performance from Dustin Mart, who finished 5th in the NCA in runs with 87 last year, helped the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys beat the Salem Witch Hats, 5-2. Julian Shed got the win, improving to 11-5. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 10 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The win for the Party Boys lifted their record to 60-27.

Nordhagen Beach took the lead on Mart's 22nd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which came against Tony Bertha in the top of the seventh, made the score 5-2, Nordhagen Beach. He hit two home runs for the second straight day versus Salem. He is now tied for second in the NCA with teammate Michael Fogcrawler and Finch Farm's Joe Mahaney.

"Every win gets us closer to our ultimate goal," said Mart.

5 August 2299 - Nut K's 10 En Route to 3-1 Knuckle Punchers Win

The home crowd had a good time watching the Oberland T-51s and Roxbury Knuckle Punchers get after it.

The Roxbury Knuckle Punchers went home winners at Atomatoys Stadium at Roxbury, thanks in large part to starter Beachboy Nut. Nut stifled the Oberland T-51s, enabling Roxbury to grab the 3-1 win. Aaron Somer converted his 16th save in 17 tries.

Nut subdued the Oberland offense. The Roxbury left-hander allowed a mere 2 hits over 8 innings, while fanning 10. His season record goes to 11-11 with the win.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Oberland manager Dirk Steadyhand. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."

The win puts Roxbury at 33-54.

5 August 2299 - Tick Fuels 13-6 Egret Triumph

Currfel Tick made an impact in the 13-6 Egret win over FHE. Tick, who is tied for 5th in the SCA in triples with 7, went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 4 runs. The winning pitcher was Danny Cautious. He tossed 109 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 6 runs on 11 hits. Egret has now won 3 in a row.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Tony Tamez? The Egret catcher had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put the Ninjas on top, 2-1. For the game, Tamez had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Tamez. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

5 August 2299 - Victory Pushes Silver Shroud Record to 57-30

Fort Hagen Silver Shroud starter Derek Green pitched a strong game against the Concord Radstags at Hubris Comics Park, leading the Silver Shroud to victory, 6-3. Green picked up the win for Fort Hagen, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 12-4. The win gives Fort Hagen a season record of 57-30.

The Silver Shroud got a big hit from left fielder Andrew Nuka. In the bottom of the fifth, Nuka pounded a 3-run home run to left-center. His 20th home run of the season put the Silver Shroud ahead, 6-2.

Green told a Fort Hagen Gazette reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

5 August 2299 - Swatters Prevail, 7-5, over Vault 81

The first-place Diamond City Swatters took on the Vault 81 Dwellers in front of a spirited crowd.

In the 7-5 Diamond City win over Vault 81, the impact of Wally Warwick was substantial. Warwick, who is on pace for 68 RBI this season, went 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Diamond City has an impressive 60-27 record.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Swatters grabbed the lead when Warwick hit his 11th home run of the season. The 2-run home run off Tom Sweeney made it 6-4, Diamond City.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Warwick told the Diamond City News.

5 August 2299 - Red Rockets Bridle Hancocks, 4-2

Jamaica Plain Red Rockets starter Ryan Hartley pitched his team past the Goodneighbor Hancocks, 4-2. In 7.2 innings, Hartley surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. The win puts Jamaica Plain at 44-43 this season.

Jamaica Plain catcher Ayag Mour contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a forkball into left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 89th hit of the season and put the Red Rockets ahead, 3-2.

After the game, Jamaica Plain manager Mark Sellsword applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
